🍽️ The Four Pillars of Nutrition
When we eat, most of what we put into our body falls into four big groups:
👉 Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, and Fiber.
Each one has its own role, and if even one is missing, the body doesn’t work at its best.
1️⃣ Carbohydrates – Fuel for the Body
Carbs are our main source of energy. Just like a car needs petrol, our body runs on carbs.
• Found in: Rice, chapati, bread, fruits, oats, potatoes.
• Good carbs (slow energy): Whole grains, fruits, vegetables.
• Weak carbs (fast sugar rush): Soft drinks, sweets, white bread.
👉 If you skip carbs, you feel tired, low on energy, and your workouts suffer.
2️⃣ Protein – The Repair & Growth Material
Protein is like the bricks and cement that build and repair your body.
• Found in: Eggs, chicken, fish, paneer, lentils, beans, nuts.
• Essential for: Muscle growth, recovery, healthy skin, hair, and nails.
👉 If protein is low, you lose muscle, recover slowly, and feel weak.
3️⃣ Fat – The Cushion & Battery
Fats are not the enemy. Good fats protect your organs, help make hormones, and store long-term energy.
• Good fats: Nuts, seeds, olive oil, coconut, avocado, fish.
• Bad fats: Deep-fried junk, packaged snacks, pastries.
👉 Without healthy fats, hormones go out of balance and vitamins (A, D, E, K) don’t get absorbed properly.
4️⃣ Fiber – The Body’s Broom
Fiber cleans the digestive system and keeps things moving smoothly.
• Found in: Vegetables, fruits with skin, whole grains, beans, seeds.
• Soluble fiber: Controls blood sugar and cholesterol.
• Insoluble fiber: Prevents constipation.
👉 Without fiber, you face digestion issues, sugar spikes, and bloating.
🏆 Easy Way to Remember
• Carbs = Petrol (energy).
• Protein = Bricks (building & repair).
• Fats = Cushion + Battery (protection & hormones).
• Fiber = Broom (cleaning system).
📌 Balanced Plate Example
• Rice or chapati (Carbs)
• Dal / Chicken / Paneer (Protein)
• Cooked veggies with a little oil/ghee (Fiber + Healthy fats)
• Salad or fruit on the side (Extra fiber + vitamins)
