Couple of things while doing the bicep, leaning back is never a good option as it makes the exercise easy for your bicep( puts less stress on bicep) and tough for the spine. Instead try sitting and doing the curls , when the exercise gets tough during the course start learning forward (partial reps or cheat reps) which will put more focus on bicep using the brachialis and brachioradialis while stabilizing the shoulder.
Strength Training not only helps build strength in your muscles, tendons and ligaments and joints .
Strength Training when combined with Yoga , Pilates etc will promote flexibility and strength while reducing the chances of injuries.
To all the people Training out there , take a day off and do Yoga to start improving your flexibility.
Warning: Stretching prior and after workout doesn't increase Joint Mobility or Flexibility, it just increases your chances of injuring your tendon / ligament due to stiff muscle.
