With our population crossing billions the graph of organ transplantations executed annually is terribly low to 500 liver and 4000 kidney transplants, while the requirement is of 25,000 livers and 75,000 kidneys for a year. Thus, the present status of organ, tissue and body donations is not at all fulfilling. The major difficulty to considerable number of donations in India includes religious misconceptions, social anxieties, lack of awareness in public, lack of training and information in the medical staff and a very low number of transplantation and retrieval centres. With our efforts we hope of a society where people have interest, understanding and commitment in matters related to these donations, discuss them unhesitantly and respect the donor & his family.
