A powerful standing asana that builds strength, stability, and awareness.
In Iyengar Yoga, every detail matters โ from the alignment of your feet to the extension of your fingertips.
โจ The back leg grounds firmly into the mat.
โจ The front thigh moves parallel to the floor.
โจ The chest opens and spreads evenly.
โจ The gaze (Drishti) is steady over the front hand โ cultivating focus and inner strength.
This pose develops courage, stamina, and balance โ both physically and mentally. When practiced with alignment and mindfulness, it transforms effort into grace.

According to B.K.S. Iyengar, Sirsasana (Headstand) is known as the "King of Asanas" due to its profound physical and mental benefits. Practiced with precision, alignment, and breath awareness, it offers deep transformation.
๐ฟ Effects on Glands & Hormonal Balance:
When you invert the body in Sirsasana:
Blood flows to the pituitary and pineal glands, which are the master regulators of the endocrine system.
These glands help control metabolism, stress response, sleep cycles, and reproductive hormones.
The posture helps bring hormonal balance, aiding in conditions like thyroid imbalances and adrenal fatigue.
๐ซ Effects on Organs:
Inversion relieves pressure from the heart, allowing it to rest while improving venous return.
Stimulates the digestive organs by reversing gravity, helping relieve constipation and indigestion.
Enhances lung capacity and oxygen absorption.
Tones the abdominal organs, especially when combined with deep, even breathing.
๐ง Mental & Emotional Balance:
Sirsasana calms the brain and relieves anxiety, stress, and mild depression.
It builds mental clarity, concentration, and emotional stability.
By turning the world upside down, it symbolically shifts your perspective, helping overcome fear, ego, and attachment.
๐ Mindfulness & Control:
Iyengar emphasized alignment, gradual progression, and the use of props to ensure stability and safety.
The asana cultivates discipline, courage, and inner stillness.
It prepares the mind for pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) and deeper meditation.

Best learned under a qualified teacher.
Avoid during menstruation, high blood pressure, neck injuries, or glaucoma.
Begin with wall support and props as per Iyengar tradition.

๐งโโ๏ธ Grateful to Share Iyengar Yoga with Doctors from Across India ๐งโโ๏ธ
Honoured to have conducted a lecture and practical session at the prestigious All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Delhi, for esteemed doctors from across the country.
The focus of the session was on Iyengar Yoga for disease management and the therapeutic use of props โ a method that brings precision, alignment, and accessibility to healing.
Through this session, we explored how Iyengar Yoga can be a powerful complementary tool in integrative medicine โ supporting recovery, improving physiological function, and enhancing quality of life.
A heartfelt thanks to AIIA for the opportunity and to all the dedicated doctors who participated with such curiosity and openness. Itโs inspiring to see the bridge between modern medicine and traditional yogic wisdom being strengthened.
