Average Consumer spends Rs 7 per unit of electricity consumed. Cost of generation is less than 1 p.u. in case of hydro power plants and around 4p.u. in case of captive power plants. Still distribution companies are running in losses. This clearly indicates that there is pilferage and mishandling of electricity.
Is it correct to pass on these losses to consumers? Suggestions invited and response welcomed so that we can carry forward our forum's voice to the regulatory commissions...
