Kishtwar’s Purav Sharma has brought laurels to Jammu & Kashmir by winning a silver medal and Mohammad Irham Sirwal won bronze medal at the 31st Junior National Thang-Ta Championships 2025, representing the Khelo India Centre, Kishtwar. The championship featured top junior Thang-Ta athletes from across the country, making his podium finish a significant achievement for the region.
Competing in the junior category, Purav and Mohammad Irham Sirwal showcased strong technique and fighting spirit through multiple rounds to secure the silver medal. He trains under coach Aman Verma at the Khelo India Centre, Kishtwar, where systematic coaching and regular practice have shaped his growth as a national-level athlete.
The tournament was held to promote the traditional martial art of Thang-Ta among youth and to provide a national platform for emerging talent. Purav’s and Mohd. Irham success has been made possible with the support of the J&K Sports Council under Secretary Madam Nuzrat Gul and the J&K Thang-Ta Association, whose backing has enabled better facilities, exposure, and competition opportunities for players from the Union Territory.
