Champion Girl Manjeet Kour: A Rising Star from Nowshera
Manjeet Kour, daughter of Subedar Sucha Singh from Nowshera, has brought immense pride to her region with her outstanding achievements in martial arts. She recently earned the prestigious title of J&K Champion Girl and clinched a gold medal at the J&K UT Thang-Ta Championships, held in Srinagar from 24th to 26th November 2024. A national medalist, Manjeet’s dedication and exceptional skills have made her a force to be reckoned with in the field of Thang-Ta, a traditional martial art of India.
Guided by her coach, Vishal Manyal, Manjeet has demonstrated consistent growth and determination in her journey. Her achievements are a testament to her hard work, discipline, and the unwavering support of her family, particularly her father, Subedar Sucha Singh, who has always encouraged her to pursue her dreams.

On August 27th, 2024, a Thang-Ta Referee Seminar was held at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex. The seminar was organized to enhance the officiating skills of referees in the traditional martial art of Thang-Ta. Participants received in-depth training on the rules, regulations, and techniques essential for fair and accurate judgment during competitions. The seminar also focused on updating referees with the latest developments in the sport, ensuring a high standard of officiating at upcoming events. This initiative played a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and quality of Thang-Ta competitions.

The J&K Thang-Ta Association organized the Thang-Ta Junior Nationals trials from September 5th to 6th, 2024. This event aimed to select talented young athletes from Jammu and Kashmir to represent the region in the upcoming National Championship.
