If someone has always been on the heavier side, is their ‘normal’ different?
Standard weight ranges are based on population data.
They don’t account for:
• Body composition
• Fat distribution
• Metabolic health
• Individual variability
Evidence shows that:
Even a 5–10% reduction in body weight can improve:
• Insulin sensitivity
• Blood pressure
• Lipid profile
Health improves well before “ideal weight” is reached.
So instead of focusing only on a target number,
shift the focus to-
* metabolic health
* functional improvement
This approach is more sustainable and more effective.
The real question is not:
“What is my ideal weight?”
But:
“What is the next meaningful change I can sustain?

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) solution removes more pesticide residue than plain water or bleach. It
was especially effective for surface residues (Study from University of Massachusetts Amherst, 2017)
🔬 HOW IT WORKS
Baking soda creates a mildly alkaline solution which helps break down certain pesticides &
loosen residues from the surface.
⚠️ IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS
1. Only works for surface pesticides
If pesticide has penetrated the skin (systemic pesticides) baking soda won’t remove it
2. Time matters- In the study: 12–15 mins of soaking was done.
👉 Quick rinsing is not effective
3. Not all pesticides behave the same
Some degrade easily
Others persist
👉 So effect is variable
🧠 PRACTICAL TAKEAWAY
✅ Best simple method:
Soak in:
1 tsp baking soda / 2 cups water
For: 10–15 minutes
Then rinse well
KEY TAKEAWAY
🫐 Better washed than avoided
Most people are either over-worried or misinformed about pesticides.
The truth lies in the middle ✔
You don’t need to panic ✔
You do need to wash smart ✔
Don’t let fear reduce your fruit & vegetable intake, that does more harm than good.
