Tennis players, young or experienced, had acknowledged Novak Djokovic as the GOAT, after playing the ATP tour matches against him across the net, winning or losing it. This has been happening for at least five years now.

First to do so was the current World No.2 Alexander Zverev. He described Djokovic as the best player ever to play tennis after going down to the Serb in a long drawn 5-sets semi-final match at 2021 US Open. Remember, the German had defeated Novak in the semi-finals on his way to win the Tokyo Olympics Gold medal a month prior to that.

Then, it was the turn of the former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev after beating him in the Championship match at the same 2021 US Open to win his first ever Slam title. The Russian stated directly to Djokovic: “I want to say with what you have accomplished this year and throughout your career, I have never said this to anybody but I will say it right now – for me, you are the Greatest tennis player in history”.

At those moments during the 2021 US Open, Djokovic was on his bid to win a Calander Grand Slam, and had won only 20 Majors, tied on that count with his BIGGEST rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Rafa Nadal.

Later, after Daniil lost in the 2023 US Open finals to Novak, with the Serbian winning his record-extending 24 Slam title, the Russian repeated it. Daniil and Sascha had acknowledged Djokovic as the GOAT many times over - Zverev named Djokovic as the GOAT during a photo session held as recently as in the last month by Laver Cup organizers.

After his R32 win over Novak at French Open in last June, the young Brazilian tennis sensation Joe Fonseca told Tennis Channel that Djokovic was the GOAT to him, though he wished it was his ‘idol’ Federer.

The current World No.1 Jannik Sinner too called the Serbian the Greatest player after his win over him in the semi-finals at Wimbledon this year. Then, the 25-year-old Argentine Mariano Navone hailed Djokovic as the Greatest player after winning his first match against the Serb in the first-round a few days back at this year’s US Open.

Latest to say Novak as the Greatest is the 25-year-old Chinese tennis player Yunchaokete Bu after he lost his first-round match to the legendary Serbian in front of his home crowd in Beijing. After their match, Bu said he had nothing to complain about the ‘crowd cheer’ Novak got as he has committed and done so much for the tennis sport. Bu added by saying, he now understood why Djokovic is the GOAT and everything made sense to him.!

Only some ‘specimen” fans from Roger - Rafa bandwagon believe the success in tennis is NOT about numbers. They are still hesitant to recognize the legendary Sebian as the GOAT. For them, that status should go to the player who is most ‘liked or loved”.! Else, it should belong to the one who played the game with the most beautiful single-handed backhand or the one with the most ferocious top-spin forehand😂😂

Novak Djokovic maintained his perfect 31-0 record at ATP 500 China Open as he defeated Yunchaokete Bu who was playing in front of his home crowd in Beijing.

Bu plays fearless and agressive tennis. It’s a wonder how the Vintage Djokovic came back from a set down to win against the hard-hitting 15 years younger Chinese player by going toe-to-toe with him for nearly three hours.!

The legendary Serbian is loved by millions of Chinese people, and he enjoys their support in Beijing, their Capital City. That’s why Djokovic went back to play there where he has had won his sixth and last title in 2015.

Agree 100% with what the 7-times Slam Champion Carlos Alcaraz said here. Beautifully articulated by him❤️👌

The present best of 5-sets format had been going on for more than a century. Any change whatsoever there in the Majors will destroy the legacy, and will kill the Grand Slam history.

Very good to note that at least one top player, that too the youngest No.1 in Men's tennis, came out boldly against any such STUPID move. Now, the current tennis establishments won’t dare to even think about it anymore.!

24-time Slam winner Novak Djokovic maintained his perfect record in Beijing by winning his first-round match against the Portuguese World No.49 Nuno Borges at the ATP 500 China Open.

This is his 30th straight match-win in seven appearances in Beijing. His previous victory in the Capital city of China was against Rafa Nadal in the Championship match way back in 2015.

Daniil Medvedev defeated Andrey Rublev to win the 2026 ATP 250 Hangzhou Open in China. SCORE: 7-5; 6-4

Daniil fired down 23 aces in two sets to sink the fellow Russian to win his third title of the 2026 season.

Though Medvedev wasn’t having a deep run to go into the second week of any Major this year, he had a great win against the 7-times Salm winner Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals at Indian Wells in last March.

With this victory, Medvedev is only 30 points behind Félix Auger-Aliassime at No.4 in Live ATP rankings. The last time he was among the Top 5 in world was almost two years back for the week ending January 26, 2025.

The wily Russian is making a remarkable comeback in his career when he is almost 31 years of age now. HUGE Congratulations to Daniil👏👏

Die-hard fans of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal always say Novak Djokovic won more matches in Majors, and higher number of Slam titles than the Swiss and the Spaniard because the Serbian always had easy draws in Slam tournaments.!

That’s why Novak could win a total of 409 matches in Majors, 40 more than Roger & 95 more than Rafa from his Slam debut at AO 2005 to the end of the 2026 US Open.! That’s also the reason Djokovic could register the highest number of 74 Top 10 wins in Slams, 11 more than Federer and 20 more than Nadal in this period having a distribution in double digits with a minimum of 15 at ALL four Slam venues😂😂😂

More tennis super stars preferred to travel to Beijing than to Tokyo to start their 2026 Asian swing on hardcourt.

ATP 500 China Open is studded with five of the current Top 10 players in the world, while only two from the Top 10 in ATP rankings are playing at the ATP 500 Japan Open.

The No.1 seed Alexander Zverev has the company of No.5 Félix Auger-Aliassime, No.6 Daniil Medvedev, No.7 Flavio Cobolli and No.10 Alex De Minaur in the Chinese capital.

Novak Djokovic, the 6-times Champion in Beijing playing for the first time there since 2015 couldn’t have drawn to play a tougher opponent to face in the quarterfinals than Zverev who won the US Open title a few days back.

The No.1 seed Carlos Alcaraz will have only one player from the Top 10 in the Main Draw at the Japan Open to content with - that too only if the current World No.8 Frances Tiafoe reaches the title match in the Japanese capital.

At the same time, it would be very interesting if the 20-year-old Rafael Jodar, the New Rafa from Spain, makes it to the finals so that we can see how the young tennis sensation takes on his senior countryman and the former No.1 player in the world.!

One-to-One RIVALRIES in Men’s Tennis since 2000

Talking about the present Carlos Alcaraz Vs. Jannik Sinner rivalry, Patrick Mouratoglou, the former coach of Serena Williams from 2012 to 2022, is absolutely right in saying: “you can’t compare the rivalry of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal and the rivalry of Jannik and Carlos.

First of everything else, the age gap between Federer and Nadal is in excess of four years, and Federer got that head-start over Nadal in their ATP tour debuts too. It will be more apt to compare the present SINCARAZ rivalry with that of Nadal & Novak Djokovic (NANO), who played their debut matches with a gap of 1-to-2 years, in tune with their age differences.

Incidentally, it is interesting to note that in the “Open Era” of Men’s tennis, only two players have played against each other three or more times in consecutive Grand Slam Championship Matches. FEDAL rivalry was great in the beginning of their career, but since 2011, it was not of much significance.

They played against each other only in two consecutive Grand Slam Finals (the French Open and the Wimbledon in the years 2006, 2007 & 2008 - Nadal winning four and Federer winning two of them. The Spaniard won all three at FO and the Wimbledon in 2008, while the Swiss won Wimbledon in 2006 & 2007.

Last year in 2025, Carlos and Jannik played in 3 consecutive Slam Finals - FO, Wimbledon and USO - with the Spaniard winning two of them in Paris and New York, and the Italian winning in Wimbledon.

Earlier to that in 2011-2012 season, Nadal and Djokovic played in 4 consecutive Major Championship matches – Wimbledon and USO in 2011 & AO and FO in 2012 – with the Serbian winning three of them at Wimbledon, Flushing Meadows, and Rod Laver Arena & the Spaniard winning at Roland-Garros.

Head-to-Head, Nadal was leading Djokovic 16-11 till 2011 Wimbledon when they were 25 & 24 years-old respectively. Sinner is 25 and Alcaraz has gone past 23 now. Alcaraz leads 10-7 over Sinner in their match-ups till this date. Obviously, NANO rivalry was MUCH BIGGER and MORE INTENSE than SINCARAZ rivalry at this age between the pairs from two generations – Gen Y & Gen Z.

In their entire career over a period of 20 years, Rafa and Novak played against each other 60-times, and Djokovic leads Nadal 31-29. No other One-to-One rivalry has ever been so FIERCEST in the “Open Era’ of tennis until now. And, it will be hard to come by in the future too.

For all the build-up so far by the tennis ‘pundits’, SINCARAZ rivalry may fizzle out in another 5 years, with them getting injured so frequently, or with some terrific young players starting to challenge them in Slam tournaments from the year 2027.

Let’s us see how long, and how successful the match-ups between Carlos and Jannik will go from here.!?!

Carlos Alcaraz, No.3 in ATP Rankings, has played only 5 ATP tour matches in the past five months, but lost his last one to World No.8 Ben Shelton, who is of his same age, in the quarterfinals of the 2026 US Open.

Now, it’s not sure whether the current World No.1 Jannik Sinner will be playing 5 tour-level matches in the five months since Wimbledon in last July.

Alexander Zverev may become the No.1 player in the World for the first time in his career in the beginning of the year 2027, or even earlier to it.!

And there are many players, younger than the youngest No.1 in tennis history Carlos, ready to get into the Top 10 in ATP by 2026 year-end.

If this is the present scenario in Men’s tennis, how can Sinner and Alcaraz who are in mid-twenties win 25 Slam titles each in their career, or, a combined 50 Majors before they retire from playing professional tennis as the FEDALCARASINNER fans had been claiming for the last two-three years😂😂
