Bedtime doesn’t have to end in ‘GO TO SLEEP!’ 😩”
For a long time, bedtime felt like a little negotiation every night. 😅
Kids want to play, not sleep!
So instead of making sleep feel like something I was forcing on her, I slowly created a predictable little routine that she could enjoy.
🌙 A consistent bedtime — with dinner a little earlier and enough time to wind down.
🎈 Play before bed — “Let’s play a little, then we’ll read your story.”
So bedtime didn't feel like the end of fun.
📖 Story time became our sleep cue.
She could choose a book, and this became our little ritual from around age 2.
❤️ Connection before sleep — a hug, a forehead kiss, eye contact, a few words about her day and simple affirmations.
🪥 As she grew, I gave her more responsibility.
Brush → night dress → wash → choose a book → bed.
The routine gradually became something she knew how to do, rather than something I had to keep commanding her to do.
And honestly, it wasn't perfect every night.
There were still sleepy, cranky and chaotic evenings. 😄
But I learnt something:
Children don't always need another command.
Sometimes they need a predictable rhythm, connection and a little time to transition.
And now, when I look back, my favourite part isn't that she goes to bed easily.
It's those few quiet minutes when we read, cuddle, talk and connect. ❤️
They are little for such a short time.
Let's build good habits without missing the beautiful moments. 🌙
📌 Save this for your next bedtime.
