After a long hiatus, Cognizant kolkata cricket was back in action again in season 2023-24.We miss all the senior members of the team, who have left the organization, and thank you to you all for having build this team over the years. It would not have been possible without your dedication and support. The entire team went through the transition phase and added young and fresh talents to form a formidable team. We participated in two tournaments and came out as champions in one and narrowly missed out on another silverware as we were eliminated in the semi finals of the other tournament.
Here are some snaps from season 2023-24:

With a heavy heart we inform you that our very own Deepayan Mukherjee & his fiancee - Medha Pal passed away on 26th September, 2020 in an unfortunate road accident near Newtown Biswa Bangla Gate. He was travelling with his fiancee and their scooter was hit by a speeding truck. As per reports there were no external injuries, and both died from internal damage. They were declared dead by the doctors once they were taken to Bidhannagar Municipality Hospital.
He is survived by his mother. Any words would fall short and we are totally speechless at this juncture. May your Soul Rest In Peace Deepayan and Medha. We will remember you and the time that we had spent will be cherished in our lifetime and beyond. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. The Cognizant cricket fraternity will remember you.
For those of you who don't know, he was an exemplary athlete, he batted mostly in 1st/2nd down and was a part time off-spinner. A brilliant fielder at Gully & Slips, and a brilliant team man, he took on the role of a part time wicket-keeper and helped us win an indoor tournament in season 2018-19. He represented Bengal in U-17 & U-19s. In Past he had represented various clubs in 1st division and in his recent past cricket career, he was the captain of his childhood club, 'Baranagar Sporting Club'.
Let's celebrate and remember the performer that he was, please go through some snaps that we have collected from the website of Cricket Association of Bengal and some of our photo archives:

Cognizant were crowned Champions in the recently concluded 7-a-side, Monsoon Cricket Cup, organized by Sportskedia Group, an independent sports management firm. The tournament was held in a rooftop playing area and was completely a new format for team Cognizant. As always, they were up for the challenge and managed to emerge as the winners of the tournament. They beat IBM in the final. The squad comprised of Ankit Yadav (c), Debangshu Chakraborty, Abhishek Gangopadhyay, Tamajit Ghosh, Pramit Biswas, Deepayan Mukherjee , Soumyajit Mondal, Avinash Sharma, Jitendra Sharma, Varnit Dixit, Tamoghna H**e, Souvik Kar & Amit Yadav.
Tournament highlights:-
Ankit Yadav led our team to the first trophy of the season, leading from the front with an all-round performance in batting, bowling and fielding in the final. He was superbly supported by Pramit and Soumyajit down the order in the finals whose respective 6s contributed greatly towards a total of 45 in 6 overs, in a tournament, where runs were very hard to come by. Special mention is required of Amit Yadav who took away all the individual trophies and that of Deepayan Mukherjee (makeshift keeper) who was brilliant behind the stumps, affecting crucial dismissals in form of catches and stumpings. Avinash was superb in the field taking crucial catches. Abhishek Gangopadhyay bowled brilliantly throughout the tournament and was ably supported by Tamajit and Soumyajit who chipped in with their performances. Debangshu's valuable inputs along with the committment of Souvik, Varnit, Jitendra, Tamoghno speak volumes of the passion of this team and accounts for everything team Cognizant is all about. Though it is very difficult to single out anybody's performance, as each and every member contributed in one way or the other to make it a collective triumph, the stand out performance came from Amit Yadav who took a hattrick in the finals and had a figure of 2-0-7-4 (read overs, maidens, runs conceded, wickets). He took away all the individual prizes in the process.
Special thanks to all the seniors who are either on-site or could not make it to the cricket ground and to the extended cricket fraternity in form of Ex- Cognizant Cricketers. Without your support and inspiration this team could not have been the one it is today. Hope the journey continues and the banner of Cognizant Cricket Team Kolkata flies high.
Enjoy the snaps and thank you as always, for your support and interest in Cognizant Kolkata Cricket.
Individual prizes:-
Man of the Finals - Amit Yadav
Best bowler - Amit Yadav.

Vishal Bhat has represented our team through 5 seasons, starting from season 2013-14 till 2017-18.He used to be a batting all rounder, going into bat at no. 3/4 and bowling as the first change. A prolific fielder at point, with a knack of getting involved in affecting crucial run outs. He was the 'SIXER' man of our team who used to hit the longest over boundaries that any one had ever seen. For the records, he remains the only man in Cognizant history to have hit 6 SIXES in an over. We have been maintaining the season stats for the past 2 seasons from which we can tell you that he had made over a dozen half-centuries and had taken over 50 wickets in the past 2 seasons.
A good player, team man and an equally good human being, humble & precise with an aptitude of learning and always keen on improving his game. Thank you for your services and all the very best for your journey ahead in life.

As Cognizant, we believe in transparency and constructive feedback. I suggest when you pen your posts about the company you represent, please be aware that it is a public forum. Remember an opinion carries weight when it talks about the problem statement, a plausible solution and based on facts. In the present form it is looking like grudge from a person who has never played any sport.

Cognizant cricket team successfully defended the Corporate Premier League organized by Calcutta Cricket Academy to win their 4th trophy of the season. Cognizant beat IBM in the finals and what a nail biter it was. Earlier, the Cognizant bowlers did a good job to restrict the opponents down to 152 with the spinners being the dominating force. Kundan was the pick of the bowlers bagging 4 wickets. While chasing, Sagnik Banerjee provided a brilliant start which was well supported by Vishal, Pramit and Sarbartha Burai. With 58 runs needed of the last 5 overs and some brilliant batting in the middle by Debarshi, KP Kundan and Joyjit took us mighty close to the target but yet it seemed so far. Debarshi was dismissed with Cognizant needing 7 of the last 2 balls and then Soumya Jit stepped in and struck two consecutive 4s to seal the victory.
