This is not just a celebration or the end of a festival. It is an emotion that words can never truly express.
As Lord Jagannath leaves Mashi's home to return to His divine abode, every heart feels the pain of separation. For a few sacred days, He brings us together as one family—bound not by blood, but by love, devotion, and His divine presence.
It feels as though Mahaprabhu Himself weaves our hearts together, reminding us that every goodbye carries the promise of another reunion.
Until we welcome You again next Rathayatra... our hearts will keep waiting.
Jai Jagannath. 🙏❤️

We at New Town Branch a day before Hera Panchami – The Divine Visit of Goddess Lakshmi
Hera Panchami is a cherished festival observed on the fifth day of the annual Rathayatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha. The word "Hera" means "to see" or "to visit," and on this sacred day, Goddess Mahalakshmi visits the Gundicha Temple (Mashir Bari), where Lord Jagannath is staying with His siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
According to tradition, Lord Jagannath leaves for Gundicha Temple without taking Goddess Lakshmi along. Feeling lovingly upset at being left behind, Mahalakshmi sets out in a grand procession to meet Him. Upon reaching the temple, she expresses her displeasure in a playful yet symbolic manner. After receiving assurances from Lord Jagannath that He will soon return home, she departs. As a mark of her loving indignation, she lightly damages a part of Lord Jagannath's chariot before returning to the Srimandir through a different route.
The festival beautifully blends devotion, culture, and symbolism, making it one of the most endearing episodes of the Jagannath tradition. It teaches that love is strengthened not only through togetherness but also through patience, understanding, and the joy of reunion.

Dressed as the sacred Maharis, our young dancers joyfully accompanied Mahaprabhu Jagannath on His divine journey to Mashir Bari, recreating one of the most cherished traditions of Rathayatra. With every graceful step, they expressed unwavering devotion, surrender, and the rich cultural legacy of Odisha through the timeless language of Odissi.
Adding to the festive spirit, our students celebrated the arrival of the monsoon in beautifully themed presentations. Some adorned themselves with graceful peacock feathers, dancing with the joy and freedom of nature's peacocks, while others radiated elegance in traditional Odissi attire. Together, they created a vibrant tapestry of faith, culture, and the enchanting rhythm of the rainy season.
A celebration where every costume told a story, every movement became an offering, and every smile reflected the bliss of dance and devotion.
Jai Jagannath! 🙏🪷🌧️🦚
