Deepu Mallesh has delivered a stunning qualifying performance at the Asian Games 2026, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, clocking:

IMF East Zone is all set to host this prestigious championship at the World-Class Sport Climbing Wall, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha from 27th to 30th October 2026.

This is the official selection trial for the National Sport Climbing Championship 2026. The East Zone is the reigning Champion's Trophy holder for the last five consecutive championships – now it's time to defend the title!

A new National Record. A moment to remember!

Indian speed climbing athlete Joga Purty clocked an impressive 7.28 seconds in the qualifying round at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, Japan, setting a new National Record in the process.

The Indian Mountaineering Foundation congratulates Joga on this remarkable achievement and wishes her the very best for the journey ahead.

“Bengal Beyond Boundaries – Celebrating World Tourism Day 2026” was successfully hosted on 26th & 27th September 2026 at Baghajatin Park, Siliguri.

Organized by the Federation of Bengal Hoteliers, with the assistance of the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal, the event featured a 5 KM & 16 KM Run. Total registration for the Run was 681, and 495 participants completed it within the cut-off time.

Other highlights included:
- Awareness Walk on Nature Conservation in Traditional Attire
- Adventure Film Festival
- Adventure Sports Showcase

The "Indian Mountaineering Foundation, East Zone" acted as Safety Supervisor & Adventure Festival Partner, and 'D True Evan' as Activity Partner.

This initiative is very important to showcase Bengal's tourism, culture and heritage on a larger scale, as well as to link environmental awareness with tourism. The diverse potential of Bengal's tourism was beautifully highlighted through various cultural programmes, adventure activities and other arrangements.

Report: IMF Mountain Film Festival 2026 – Ranchi Screening, 25th September 2026

Dear Adventure Enthusiasts,

The Indian Mountaineering Foundation – East Zone, in collaboration with Sarla Birla University, Ranchi and Ideate Inspire Ignite Foundation (i3 Foundation), Ranchi, successfully hosted the Ranchi Screening of the 7th Edition of the IMF Mountain Film Festival at the G.D. Birla Auditorium, Ranchi, Jharkhand on 25th September 2026.

The festival was inaugurated by lamp lighting in the presence of the following dignitaries:

- Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Founder, i3 Foundation & Curator, TEDx Kanke

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Biswarup Samanta, Dean, Student Welfare, SBU, followed by an address by the Chairman, IMF East Zone. The dignitaries and guests then inaugurated the student club – “Adventure & Exploration Club” of SBU.

It was a day filled with adventure, inspiration, and exploration, featuring award-winning films from the world of mountaineering, trekking, and outdoor sports. From breathtaking mountain landscapes to stories of courage, resilience, exploration and the human spirit, the festival offered students a window into a world far beyond the classroom.

But the day was about more than just films. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in experiential learning and adventure education at SBU. Sarla Birla University and i3 Foundation formally signed a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create an active ecosystem for outdoor leadership, adventure sports, experiential learning, and environmental stewardship.

Special thanks to the programme anchor, Mr. Abhijeet Singh Power, a student of B.Com.

A new beginning. A new ecosystem. A new era for the students of Sarla Birla University. Let the journey begin!

HIGH ALTITUDE EXPLORATORY TREK 2026 | NORTH EAST HIMALAYAS

The mountains have more to teach us than the art of ascent. They teach resilience, responsibility, leadership and the value of moving together.

The Indian Mountaineering Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, invites Indian nationals to embark on a 10-day exploratory trek through the breathtaking landscapes of the North East Himalayas in Arunachal Pradesh.

📍 Route: Dirang – Jimthung – Sangti – Chander – Lagam – Pangma – Namsu – Dirang

📅 09–20 October 2026

This expedition is designed to build essential skills in trekking, navigation, campsite management, safety, emergency response, leadership and responsible mountain travel.

👥 Limited to 25 participants (+10 on reserve).

🎒 Alpha Grade in Basic Mountaineering Course required. Advanced course preferred.
