We are proud to announce that our presentation VIRAHOTKANTHITA RADHIKA, which was officially selected in The Independent Video Film Festival of Youtube Art club "Pavlos Paraschakis", Greece, 2022, has been selected as the finalist.
With the purpose to recognise the work of Creators, the festival had begun in 2013, by Anestis Dalezis and Leonardo Thimo. The Art club "Pavlos Paraschakis" in Greece, is an artistic space, emphasising realism, theatre, music, dance and the "Partnership of all arts". They believe to work together for culture and co-exist among various cultural spaces.
VIRAHOTKANTHITA RADHIKA was our digital presentation-manifesting Radha’s separation from Krishna through various Indian texts.
Nache Bala since its inception had received enough public applause and media attention, but to see our little work of art going global and reaching heights is overwhelming to the core.

The Maibis invoke the spirits of the sylvan deities. The action of pulling the spirits from the water is known as ‘Laiching’ in Meitei.

A tradition of dance worship dates back to 2000 years and is still revered as the oldest dance genres of Manipur.
Remarkably the annual festival of the Meiteis were and still are conducted by the priestesses, the Maibis. Invoking the divine spirits from the water, they become the spiritual medium throughout the festival. It is believed a primeval spirit takes possession of her, leaving her in a state of trance. Describing the creation of the world, she dances in joy, gaining supernatural power and becoming one with the Lord.
I was fortunate to experience performances of Maibis, in Moirang, Manipur, during the Lai Haraoba festival. In the native land of the Meiteis, they still go on preserving their cultural roots with full dignity and power.
Nache Bala’s debut programme GURUPRANAM began with the dance of the Maibis- Laiching Jagoi.

To many Manipuri Dance is all about Raas Leelas, where the dancers cladded in decorative ‘potlui’ move like dancing dolls. In order to break this myth, Nache Bala’s debut programme brought forth the versatility of this age old dance tradition through solo recitals.
Our programme was segmented into four categories namely Pre-Vaisnavite dance festival Lai Haraoba, Sankirtan, Geetagovinda and Vaisnava Padabali. Each and every presentation manifested distinct costumes bringing a diversity based on its tradition.

. Guru Govindan Kutty was not only a revered Guru, a Kathakali maestro, to us Guruji was that amicable soul who always welcomed us with a warm smile.

To Kolkata’s dance fraternity, it was indeed a precious moment to have stalwarts Guru Govindan Kutty and Devjani Chaliha together on stage. On 5th July 2003, Sisir Mancha witnessed it. Their mutual respect and adoration added to the essence of our show. ‘Pranam’ was what these ‘Gurus’ shared.
