Do you know how an f1 tire is made? What gives it its grip? What all the different colours mean here's our insider's guide to f1 tyres?

Let's start with the obvious: what are the different kinds of tires and what do the different colours mean. F1 has five different kinds of slick tires, the hardest of which is C1, and each uses a different compound. The softest tire is C5, and there are also two kinds of rain tires: intermediate, which are also called inters, and full wets. For each race weekend, Pirelli chooses three of the five compounds based on which is best suited to the track surface and likely temperatures. The compounds are then color-coded using tyre wool markings. White stands for hardest, yellow for medium, and red for soft. Green stands for intermediate, and blue stands for wet.
