According to the teachings of Shiva in the RudrayÄmala Ta**ra, Ganesha, Arka (the Sun), Hari (Vishnu), and ÄĒÅÄna (Shiva) are all manifestations of the same essential Divine Reality, and that unity is ultimately expressed through the supreme powers of Durga and Saraswati. It is this MahÄÅyÄmÄ, the Great Goddess in the form of MahÄvidyÄ, who should be worshipped with true understanding.
A true Kaula or an authentic Vaishnava never creates divisions among these deities. One who has realized the deeper spiritual essence of Ganesha, Surya, Vishnu, Shiva, and Durga understands that they are merely different manifestations of the same Supreme Consciousness.
O Devi, the wise devotee worships all these deities with a sense of oneness. Such a seeker may equally adore all forms of the Divine through the Devi Chakra, the Shiva Linga, or through the essence of Shiva Himself.
Likewise, whether through the ÅÄlagrÄma stone, the solar crystal altar, or the sacred Ganeshvara Chakra, the enlightened practitioner never perceives separation, but experiences the revelation of the same universal Consciousness everywhere.
However, one who creates divisions among these deities, even if outwardly called a Shaiva, becomes opposed to the true principle of Shivaâthus unknowingly destroying oneâs own path toward spiritual welfare.

Do not fear emptiness. Do not allow cravings for pleasure or sensory enjoyment to accumulate within the heart. Life is like a fresh canvasâupon it, preparations are underway to paint a new picture once again. The things we cling to, the things we fear losing or grieve over, are ultimately illusions. This awareness of detachment (vairÄgya) is one of the profound truths of spiritual psychology.
Within renunciation lies true attainment. When the coverings of a closed room are broken, the vast sky rushes in and fills the mind. In that state, first comes peace, then joy, and finally love. Just as the fullness of the Rasa Purnima emerges only after the darkness of the new moon night, so too the essence of life awakens through emptiness.
The love of the Buddha is the love of this profound darknessâwhere the masculine is empty, and nature too is empty. Within that very emptiness occurs their intimate union. In the depth of that void unfolds the divine play of the cosmic pairâthe unity of Uma-Maheshwara and Radha-Krishna. Beneath this, the incomplete world gradually moves toward wholeness. Along this path, the Buddhaâs love blossoms into compassion.
The Sahajiyas realized the mystery of this Buddha-heart, and therefore they loved the Goddess Nairatmya, the PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ Tara. They said: in the eyes of society she is neglectedâa chandalaâs daughter, a domâs daughter; who would dare touch her? Yet the one who does touch her transcends all distinctions and divisions. In this love there is neither the ecstasy of attainment nor the sorrow of deprivationâeverything becomes equal, still, and detached. Even the Vedas hint at this truthâin the love of Aditi and Varuna, where both are empty, and yet the source of all fullness.

Kali and PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ
A Philosophical Interpretation
In the philosophical ideas centered around Kali, the deep influence of Buddhism becomes clearly evident. Mahamahopadhyaya Haraprasad Shastri, in his work Boudhadharma, noted that Bengali Ta***ic traditions were profoundly shaped by Buddhist thought. In particular, the use of the concept of âÅÅĢnyaâ (Emptiness), which stands as a foundational pillar of Buddhist philosophy, strongly indicates this influence.
In the Ta***ic cosmology centered on Kali, it is said that MahÄkÄla himself emerges from the Primordial Power, Kali. This concept bears a stronger resemblance to the Buddhist relationship between Ädi-PrajÃąÄ (Primordial Wisdom) and Ädi-Buddha than to the conventional Shaiva-Shakta doctrine of Shakti and ShaktimÄn. Scholar Shashibhushan Dasgupta observed that in Buddhist philosophy, Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are at times interpreted respectively as UpÄya (Buddha), PrajÃąÄ (Dharma), and the manifested world arising from their union (Sangha). According to Nepali Buddhist traditions, Buddha himself emerges from PrajÃąÄâa concept comparable to the Ta***ic Hindu notion of Shiva arising from Shakti.
This idea of the âPrimordial Masculine emerging from the Primordial Feminineâ is reflected throughout medieval Bengali literature, including Ta**ras, Mangalkavyas, and Puranic texts. The strong Buddhist influence on this literary and philosophical tradition is undeniable.
However, this influence is not confined to Bengal alone. In the Krama or DevÄĢnaya traditions of Kashmir as well, one finds a profound dialogue between Kali and Buddhist thought. In his commentary on the VijÃąÄna Bhairava Ta**ra, Acharya Shivopadhyaya identifies the Goddess as the Supreme Principle that transcends all limitations of space, time, and form. This unveiled and absolute nature of the Goddess is described as PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ.
PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ represents that âGround of Emptinessâ which symbolizes the Supreme Truthâa state where all limitations dissolve. In many philosophical systems, this very state of emptiness is understood as liberation or moksha. Thus, the Kali of the Krama tradition and the Buddhist PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ appear to be two different expressions of the same ultimate reality.
PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ is called âSarva-Buddhodayaâ (âthe source of all Buddhasâ), because all Buddhas arise from Her. Likewise, in Shakta Ta**ra, MahÄkÄla Bhairava is said to emerge from Kali. Drawing this comparison, Mahamahopadhyaya Gopinath Kaviraj explained that just as in Shakta philosophy Shakti is regarded as even the Mother of Shiva, similarly in Buddhism PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ is revered as the Mother of all Bodhisattvas and Buddhas.
He further explains that this supreme state is one in which the duality of Purusha and Prakriti dissolves, giving rise to non-dual consciousness. This condition is referred to as the âSaptadashÄĢâ â the Supreme Non-dual State.
The concept of the Seventeenth Kala (SaptadashÄĢ Kala) is especially significant. It denotes a condition that is neither fullness nor emptiness, yet simultaneously transcends both. It exists beyond all oppositions, where form and formlessness, attributes and attributelessness, all reconcile into unity. In Ta***ic philosophy, this stateâfree from all four logical categories (ChatuášŖkoáši-vinirmukta)âis identified with Kali herself.
According to the Krama tradition, Kali is that SaptadashÄĢ Kalaâthe ultimate culmination of all processes and the final integration of all existence.
Finally, an important clarification: the âEmptinessâ indicated by Kali or PrajÃąÄpÄramitÄ is not a nihilistic void. It is not non-existence, but rather a radiant, blissful, luminous consciousness. It is neither presence nor absence, but a Supreme Reality beyond all description and limitation, called âÅÅĢnyaâ only because of its unconditioned nature.
