JC Mukherjee T20 Tournament
Pre Quarter Final Round
Final Score:
Kolkata Union Sporting Club – 110/7 (20 overs)
Kalighat Club – 114/5 (19.4 overs)
On a slow and difficult Dumurjola ground wicket where stroke making was never easy, Kolkata Union Sporting Club produced another spirited and fearless display against top flight and fancied opponents Kalighat Club. Winning the toss, Kalighat Club elected to field first and their bowlers exploited the conditions well in the early stages.
Despite the challenging surface, Kolkata Union Sporting Club battled hard with Pabitra Seth top scoring with a determined 23, while Pijush Laha contributed a valuable 22 at the top. Useful late contributions from Rik S Choudhury and Anik Nandi helped the team post 110/7 in 20 overs, a score that still demanded disciplined batting on that surface.
Defending the total, the Kolkata Union Sporting Club bowlers responded magnificently and made Kalighat Club work hard for every single run. Sumit Rajak picked up two crucial wickets, while skipper Vivek Singh and Anik Nandi chipped in with one wicket each. The bowlers maintained tight lines and kept the pressure on throughout as Kalighat Club was reduced to 96/5 before eventually reaching the target in 19.4 overs.
Though our journey in the 2025-2026 cricket season comes to an end, the boys once again showed immense courage, discipline and fighting spirit against one of the strongest sides in Kolkata cricket. Match Report:
CAB 50 Overs One Day Knockout Tournament
Round of 16
Venue: Rangers Ground
Opponent: East Bengal Club
A spirited and fearless display by Kolkata Union Sporting Club against a top flight East Bengal side boasting several current Bengal Ranji Trophy players. Winning the toss, Kolkata Union Sporting Club opted to field first, but the experienced East Bengal batting line up capitalised on the conditions to pile up a formidable 448/6 in 48 overs, including 34 penalty runs. Priyank Panchal led the assault with a magnificent 156, while Writam Porel, Agniv Pan and Sudip Kumar Gharami also made valuable contributions.
The match also witnessed a bizarre incident when East Bengal Club declared their innings at 326/4 and both batters walked off the field with the umpires initially accepting the decision. However, the Kolkata Union Sporting Club players stood their ground, fully aware that there is no provision for declaration in this format and that walking off the field could technically amount to conceding the match. In keeping with the true sporting spirit and rich legacy of the club, Kolkata Union Sporting Club chose not to press for the match to be awarded in their favour and instead allowed East Bengal Club to resume their innings.
Despite the daunting target, Kolkata Union Sporting Club came out with positive intent. Pijush Laha provided a brisk start with 31 off 26 balls before Mehroz Raza produced another scintillating counter attacking innings of 87 off just 55 balls, smashing 8 sixes and 6 fours. Amit Santra remained unbeaten on a fighting 60 off 36 balls, while skipper Vivek Singh chipped in with a composed 54 and Pabitra Seth added a useful 43. Kolkata Union Sporting Club eventually finished at 348/9 in 48 overs, including 26 penalty runs.
Though the campaign in the CAB One Day Tournament comes to an end, the boys earned immense respect with their fighting spirit and never say die attitude against one of the strongest teams in the competition.
Final Score:
East Bengal Club – 448/6 (48 overs)
Kolkata Union Sporting Club – 348/9 (48 overs)
East Bengal Club won by 100 runs.
Heartfelt thanks to our sponsors Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation for standing by the side of Kolkata Union Sporting Club throughout the season. Your continued support keeps the spirit of this legacy club alive.

CAB U 18 Tournament
Final Score:
Knock out round of 32
Venue: Police Ground
Tapan Memorial: 237/10(44.5 overs)
Kolkata Union Sporting Club: 202/10( 36.5 overs)

It was a fighting effort, but not the result we wanted as our U18 campaign comes to an end.
Tapan Memorial, after opting to bat, started aggressively but disciplined bowling pulled things back. Skipper Arman Shah led from the front with 4 wickets, well supported by left arm chinaman bowler Swapnil Mondal who once again spun a web to pick up 4, as they were eventually restricted to 237 in 44.2 overs.
The chase never really got going. Early setbacks left us struggling at 30/3 and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Just when the game seemed to slip away, Asif Islam ( Misba)turned it on with a breathtaking counterattack. His scintillating 102 off just 66 balls, studded with 10 sixes and 8 fours, brought us right back into the contest. Supported well by Abhrojyoti Sen, the partnership of 72 rekindled hope of a dramatic victory.
But cricket can be cruel. An inside edge ended Misba’s innings, and with it our hopes, as we were bowled out for 202, falling short by 35 runs.
A spirited fight, plenty of positives, but curtains on our U18 journey.
Grateful to our sponsor Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation for their unwavering support.

Kolkata Union Sporting Club: 85/0(13.3 overs)
Kolkata Union Sporting Club delivered a clinical all-round performance to defeat B.N.R Recreation Club in the CAB U-18 Tournament, keeping their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage very much alive.
With all previous matches in the group having been washed out, this game assumed significant importance, making the result a decisive factor in the qualification scenario.
B.N.R, after winning the toss, elected to bat but were jolted early as Kinnor Pal struck twice in his very first over, removing two batters in the second over of the innings and putting the opposition under immediate pressure. From there, Kolkata Union bowlers maintained tight control.
The standout performer was left-arm chinaman bowler Swapnil Mondal, who produced a brilliant spell of 5 for 24 in his 9 overs, dismantling the middle and lower order. He was well supported by Abhrajyoti Sen, who picked up 3 wickets, as B.N.R were bowled out for 83 in 26.1 overs. Abhranil Chakraborty top scored with 41, but lacked support from the other end.
In reply, Kolkata Union made light work of the chase, reaching 85 without loss in just 13.3 overs. Arman Shah led the charge with an aggressive unbeaten 46, while Soumyadip remained solid with 30 not out, as the openers ensured there were no hiccups. Swapnil Mondal deservedly received the Player of the Match award.

A dominant performance with both bat and ball has placed Kolkata Union Sporting Club in a strong position. Qualification to the knockout stage will now depend on the outcome of the final group match scheduled on the 20th.

Shibpur Institute: 157/10(32.5 overs)
Kolkata Union Sporting Club won by 181 runs.

Put into bat Kolkata Union Sporting Club put a daunting and dazzling batting display. Today was
a complete team performance and a statement win.

Putting up 338 on the board was built on collective responsibility. Sarasij Mukherjee led from the front with a fine 87, Pijush Laha set the tone with 64, and Md Imtiaz provided a blistering start before being bowled just when he was looking dangerous. Mehroz Raza’s fluent 51 and Vivek Singh’s explosive knock of 48 ensured we never lost momentum. Contributions came from everywhere, exactly what you want as a unit.

Match: 2
CAB First Division One Day Tournament (45 Overs)
Kolkata Union Sporting Club posted a competitive 255/6 in 45 overs, built around a commanding unbeaten 107 by Vivek Singh, well supported by Pabitra Seth (51) and Pijush Laha (42).

In reply, Police Athletic Club were under pressure but held their innings together to reach 259/8 in 43 overs, with decent contributions from Souren Roy and Sayak Basu.

The contest, however, saw a crucial and rather tactical twist. Towards the closing stages, despite wickets falling, the batting side managed the situation smartly by utilising the time window to ensure incoming batsmen delayed proceedings just enough to avoid being bowled out, thereby capitalising on the penalty runs.

It was a hard fought game that went the distance where fine margins and situational awareness made the difference.
