250 Athletes in Action as YSS Kulgam Successfully Concludes U-17 Boys District-Level Competitions
Kulgam, June 13: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Kulgam successfully concluded the Inter-Zone District Level Under-17 Boys Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball Tournaments under the banner of Fit India Movement and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.The tournaments witnessed participation from all six zones of District Kulgam, with nearly 250 players competing in various events and displaying impressive sportsmanship, discipline and athletic excellence.In the final standings, Zone HC Gham emerged champions in Volleyball, Zone Kulgam secured the Kabaddi title, while Zone Devsar claimed the Kho-Kho championship.The competitions were organised by YSS Kulgam to promote physical fitness, teamwork and a drug-free lifestyle among the youth. At the conclusion of the tournaments, officials of the YSS Office Kulgam distributed trophies among the winner and runner-up teams and congratulated the participants for their outstanding performances.The department reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality sporting opportunities and nurturing young talent across the district.

YSS Kulgam Conducts Inter-School Zonal Level Chess Competitions Under Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan
Over 210 Students Participate in Chess Events Organised by YSS Zones Kulgam and HC GAM
Kulgam, June 12: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) organised Inter-School Zonal Level Chess Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys and Girls under the banner of Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan in Zones Kulgam and HC GAM.
At Indoor Badminton Hall Kulgam, Zone Kulgam conducted the competitions with enthusiastic participation of more than 170 students from various educational institutions. The event showcased the intellectual abilities and strategic thinking skills of young participants.
Similarly, Zone HC GAM organised Inter-School Zonal Level Chess Competitions for Under-14 and Under-17 Girls at Al-Hilal School, witnessing participation of over 40 students from different institutions of the zone.
The competitions were held in accordance with the annual activity calendar of the Department of Youth Services & Sports and aimed at promoting sportsmanship, mental development and a drug-free lifestyle among students.The programmes concluded successfully with officials encouraging participants to stay physically and mentally fit, remain away from drug abuse, and contribute towards building a healthy and progressive society.

Hyper Aadii was adjudged Player of the Match in the semifinal of the DYSP Aman Kumar Thakur Memorial Cricket Tournament, Nihama, for his outstanding bowling performance.Delivering a crucial spell, Hyper Aadii claimed 3 wickets in 4 overs, conceding just 20 runs, and played a decisive role in his team's success. 400 Young Athletes Participate in Inter-Zone U-14 Competitions at Sports Stadium Kulgam
Kulgam, June 12: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Kulgam successfully organised the Inter-Zone District Level Under-14 Boys Tournaments in Kabaddi, Volleyball and Kho-Kho at Sports Stadium Kulgam under the banners of the Fit India Movement and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The tournaments witnessed active participation from all six zones of the district, with nearly 400 athletes competing in various sporting disciplines. The events were organised in accordance with the Annual Activity Calendar of the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, J&K, under the overall supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer Kulgam, Mr. Nisar Ahmad Ganie.
In the Kabaddi final, Zone Devsar defeated Zone Qaimoh to claim the U-14 Boys title. In Volleyball, Zone Kulgam emerged victorious against Zone Qaimoh in the final and lifted the championship trophy. Likewise, Zone HC Gam defeated Zone Yaripora in the final of the Kho-Kho competition to secure the U-14 Boys title.
The tournaments were conducted smoothly and showcased the sporting talent, discipline and enthusiasm of young athletes from across the district. The initiative also aimed to encourage physical fitness, healthy lifestyles and awareness against drug abuse among students.
At the conclusion of the events, trophies were distributed among the winning and runner-up teams in recognition of their outstanding performances.

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various educational institutions of Zone Qaimoh. The young cricketers displayed exceptional sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and competitive spirit throughout the event. In the final match, HSS Chowgam delivered an outstanding performance to emerge as the champion, while HSS Nihama secured the runner-up position after displaying commendable skill and determination throughout the competition.The event was organised under the Annual Activity Calendar of the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports J&K and under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Commissioner Secretary DYSS reviews Sports Infrastructure, Facilities at GCOPE
Ganderbal, June 11: Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary IAS along with Director General, YSS, Anuradha Gupta, on Thursday, visited the Government College of Physical Education (GCOPE) in Gadoora, here. He chaired a detailed review meeting attended by the Principal and faculty members of the College regarding the academic performance and research, sports infrastructure and other facilities being developed at the college campus. He also inspected ongoing and proposed construction works and assessed the progress of developmental projects aimed at strengthening academic and training amenities for students.
Dr Shahid visited the Sports Science and Research Laboratory of the college, where he was briefed by the students of the college currently pursuing Bachelor’s in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) and Master’s in Physical Education (M.P.Ed.), about the various advanced testing and training stations established for scientific assessment of athletes. The laboratory houses facilities for anthropometric measurements, force plate analysis for evaluating athletic performance, magnetic timing gates for speed and agility testing, cricket performance analysis software, bowling machines, BLS equipment, and several other modern sports science tools. The Commissioner observed that the college has state-of-the-art infrastructure for sports education, research and athlete performance enhancement. He asked DG, YSS to ensure optimum utilization of the infrastructure available. He also advised to introduce diploma and certificate courses in the College. He was informed by the DG, YSS that many refresher courses and certification courses are scheduled to be held in GCOPE in the months of June –July.
Dr Shahid, while interacting with the students of the college listened to their feedback and inputs patiently and assured them of taking every possible effort to address their genuine concerns. He also shared his vision for the growth of the GCOPE as an institution of excellence in sports and physical education.
On the sidelines of the review meeting and student interaction, an impressive presentation on the topic ‘Bridging gap between physical education sports science, physiotherapy and health science was delivered by Dr Suhail Ahmed Mir on the instructions of the Commissioner Secretary.
Later, Commissioner Secretary and DG, YSS also interacted with young athletes participating in different sporting events, that were underway in the college campus, including the Inter-Zone Badminton Competition organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ganderbal. They praised the players for their energy, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit.
During the visit, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ganderbal and other officers and officials of YSS were also present.
