Ten years of coaching has taught me something interesting.
Most women don’t tell me their real fitness goal on the first call.
They’ll say they want better health.
More energy.
To feel stronger.
To lose weight.
And those things matter.
But a few weeks later, the truth usually comes out.
They want a body transformation.
They want to build muscle.
Lose body fat.
Feel confident in photos.
Wear clothes they love.
Look in the mirror and genuinely like what they see.
They want a physique that reflects the effort they’ve been putting into their training, nutrition, and lifestyle.
The problem is that for years the fitness industry made people feel guilty for saying that out loud.
Somewhere along the way, wanting to look good became “vain.”
So people started hiding their real goal behind goals that felt more acceptable.
The issue is that when you’re chasing a goal that isn’t truly yours, progress never feels satisfying.
That’s why one of the first questions I ask new coaching clients is:
“What do you actually want?”
Not what social media says you should want.
Not what sounds noble.
Not what avoids judgment.
What would genuinely make you happy with your results?
Because your fitness journey becomes much simpler when you’re honest about the destination.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting better health.
There’s also nothing wrong with wanting to build an incredible physique.
The goal isn’t to pick the “right” reason.
The goal is to tell yourself the truth.
What do you actually want from your training?
Comment below. I’m curious.
