Sarvatra Yoga Yoga & wellbeing for women in midlife 🌿 Host of Saath — Journeys with Tasneem. New episodes every Friday, 7 PM on Spotify.

I have wanted to say this for a long time. The chart was never drawn for us.

02/10/2026

BMI. Three letters that have judged you for years.

That ruler was never made for an Indian body. It was drawn, mostly, on Western women, in another country, with another build.

Tonight I give you the true one — and the four small tests that tell you what no scale ever can.

Episode Thirteen is live. Twelve minutes, and you will never read that chart the same way again.

Dear Me,

"And somewhere in all these years I stopped asking what I wanted for dinner."

I wrote that line yesterday evening. With an ink pen, on a plain sheet of paper.

Not to my husband. Not to my children.

To myself.

Somebody's socks. Somebody's forms. Somebody's shoes by the door. And then exams again. And now the house is quieter — and I am still standing in it, holding everybody up, having put myself down somewhere along the way and never picked myself back up.

This week I am writing one letter every day. Seven letters, from a woman to the woman she used to be.

Read this one slowly. Then tell me which line was yours.

You Were Measured With the Wrong Ruler.

You know what you weigh. Almost none of us know our waist. Tomorrow I explain why that is the wrong way round.

01/10/2026

The weight settled at the middle.

Not everywhere. At the middle. The arms stayed, the legs stayed, and the shape of you quietly changed in one place while the number on the scale barely moved at all. More than half of us are carrying it exactly there.

And here is the part that should make you angry. The chart can look at that and still call you normal.

You know your weight. You have known it for years. Do you know your waist?

Tomorrow night I tell you the whole story of that chart, and the measure that was always yours instead.

Do you know your waist, my dear? Yes or no. 🌿

Two women, each waiting for the other to call, each sure she would be interrupting. Be the one who goes first.

Somewhere a woman is remembering your laugh.

She thought of you this week. Something happened and you were the first person she wanted to tell, and then she did not call, because it has been so long now that calling feels like it needs an occasion. She told herself you were probably busy.

You have been telling yourself the same thing about her.

That is all it is. Two women, each waiting for the other one, each certain she is the one who would be interrupting.

Be the one who calls today. Not a message. Call.

Who came into your mind just now, my dear? 🌿

We have all called it age. For a great many of us it was iron, and nobody ever looked.

30/09/2026

You called it age.

The tiredness that no amount of sleep touches. The breath that goes short on one flight of stairs. The hair in the comb. The dullness you cannot describe to anybody without sounding like you are complaining. You put it down to the years and you carried on.

It may have been iron. More than half of Indian women are anemic, and most of us never find out, because nobody thinks to look.

It is one small test. Ask for it by name.

When did you last check your haemoglobin, my dear? This year, or never?

Please take this to your doctor, not to the internet. Saath walks beside him, never in front. 🌿

There is a bottle in your cupboard still in its box, waiting for a day good enough. There isn't going to be a better one than today.
