50 INTERNATIONAL TEST MATCHES for VICTOR DAVIES
Last night during the New Zealand vs India match at the NZ-Asia Cup, it was a special moment for New Zealand Captain Victor Davies, who became just the third player from his country to play 50 test matches. He fittingly received a guard of honour from the Indian side as he came out to bat during his partnership.
Davies has been a regular member of the side since making his debut almost a decade ago, and has played in three World Cups (2014, 2017 & 2022), leading the side in the latter two.
In the climate of international indoor cricket, where fixtures are not played on a regular basis, playing 50 tests is a significant achievement. He joins Bryce Fellows & current New Zealand Coach Leigh Kelly as those to have played 50 matches for New Zealand at the Open Men's level.
Davies is not just an excellent player, but also a very dedicated student of the game and strong leader of the New Zealand side. He is highly regarded by all those in the indoor cricket community in New Zealand and across the World, and this achievement is a reflection of all of his hard work and dedication to indoor cricket during his career.
