Every fast answer teaches the team something.
Sometimes it teaches:
“When there is uncertainty, bring it to me.”
And every time we completely redo a manageable decision, we may teach:
“Waiting is safer than choosing.”
Try changing one question this week.
Instead of:
“What should you do?”
Ask:
“What do you recommend and why?”
You still get visibility.
They bring thinking.
Try it once today.

There is a difference between someone helping with the work and someone owning the outcome.
If you still:
set the priorities,
make the decisions,
check the work,
remember the deadline,
and step in when something goes wrong…
the task may have moved.
The responsibility hasn’t.
Pick one area and define three things:
Outcome.
Decision rights.
Measure.
That is where ownership starts becoming visible.

A bigger team does not automatically create a different role for the founder.
Sometimes the work gets distributed while the decisions, approvals, client relationships and difficult problems continue to come back to the same person.
YOU
Try looking at your role in complete responsibilities rather than individual tasks.
What is one thing the business should be able to own from beginning to end without you over the next 30 days?
That is a much more useful delegation question.
Save this and choose your one responsibility.

Most founders I meet don’t think they have this problem.
Their team is good. Their business is doing well.
Nothing’s on fire.
That’s exactly why it goes unnoticed for so long. A business that can’t run without you rarely looks like it’s struggling. It looks like a founder who’s simply very busy.
The post walks through how to spot it early, while it’s still easy to change.
