Basketball in India isn’t a new "trend" or a recent import. It has been part of our sporting fabric since 1894—long before it became the global giant it is today.
From the first baskets hung in a Calcutta YMCA to the historic courts of Kapurthala, the game has grown quietly on our cement maidaans. It hasn't always had the headlines or the big-money deals, but it has always had the hustle.
Swipe left to see who brought the game first to our shores and the milestones that built the foundation for the Indian hoopers of today.
Kreedapanti is here to tell the stories of the sports that live in the shadows of the giants. Because every bounce counts.
Where did you play your first game of basketball? Let’s hear about your local court in the comments. 👇

Last Sunday was about more than just 90 minutes of football. While the city’s attention was split, Mumbai City FC turned the spotlight where it mattered: our women athletes and our local community.
From the massive banner honoring Mumbai’s sporting heroes to the incredible initiative of donating all ticketing revenue to an NGO—the club proved that football is a force for good.
At Kreedapanti, we live for these stories. The ones that happen in the stands, the ones that support the maidaans, and the ones that build the future of Indian sports.
To the women who play, the fans who cheer, and the club that gives back—we see you.
