"I was overjoyed. It was far too cold. I wish to get to Mount Everest’s top someday,” says Arishka Laddha, the youngest Indian to climb the Base Camp, which lies at more than 17,500 ft.

Hailing from Kothrud in , Arishka has been involved in athletics since she was a toddler and has been cycling, trekking, and running for many years. The 6-year-old wore about eight layers of clothing and traveled for 15 days with her mother for the expedition.

“My daughter is an energetic child. We climb forts around Pune on alternate Saturdays and Sundays and have climbed Sinhagadh several times,” says her mother, Dimple.
