At 50 years old he is a British Cycling Level 3 Accredited Coach.
For 25 years from the age of 11 he was a regional level club runner, competing in track, road & cross country events.
After being forced to leave competitive running because of serious ankle injury he was forced to look at alternate endurance sport which is where he took on .
He has competed in time trials (a staple of the UK competitive cycling scene), criterium (circuit) racing and sportives, supplementing these events with multiple training trips to the Alps, Majorca, Corsica & the Canary Islands plus various Sportives, including the Tour of Flanders & Liege Bastogne Liege Sportives (held the day before the Pro races). In 2015 he moved to India to support a career move for his wife and took the opportunity to formally convert his years of training & competition into a recognisable coaching qualification via National Federation, British Cycling.
He has been working with Scott-India in supporting their Development Racing Team programme for the past 3 years. In parallel with his work with Scott, he has numerous clients, across all disciplines and abilities. He also runs turbo training classes twice a week in Mumbai.
He enjoys sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with the burgeoning Indian cycling community.
He has continued to race in India, both in Masters and ‘Open’ Elite events, attaining some significant results including multiple age group podiums.
He has had various coaching articles published in magazines and on-line sites and have spoken at the Indian Cycling Festival (Mumbai, 2017), as well as delivering a 90 minute presentation on the basics of coaching to a large cycling audience from Pune, Maharashtra.
His passion is to develop full fledged infrastructure to build cycling as a sport in India.
