‘’ये जानकर मैं बेहद उत्साहित हूं कि भारत के युवा खिलाड़ी हर महीने श्रीलंका में 12 मैच खेलेंगे जिसकी शुरुआत जुलाई 2017 से हो रही है। यहीं से मैंने भी अपने क्रिकेट के सफ़र की शुरुआत की थी, जब 17 साल की उम्र में मुझे पहली बार अंडर-19 के कप्तान के तौर पर श्रीलंका जाने का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ था। जहां हमारा पाला श्रीलंका के दिग्गज अर्जुन राणातुंगा से पड़ा था, एक मैच में उन्होंने हमारी टीम की जमकर धुनाई की थी और गेंद को मैदान के हर एक कोने में पहुंचाया था। उस समय राणातुंगा सिर्फ़ 15 साल के थे। श्रीलंका एक शानदार जगह है लेकिन याद रहे क्रिकेट की हर बारीकी आपको दौरे पर तुरंत सीखना होगा। श्रीलंका के बाद इंग्लैंड के दौरे पर भी मैं अंडर-19 भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के साथ गया था, और इन्हीं दोनों दौरों ने मेरे क्रिकेट को बदल डाला। 18 साल की उम्र में मुझे भारत की ओर से खेलने का गौरव हासिल हुआ था, आपको अपना 200 % लगाना पड़ेगा अगर आपका भी सपना भारत के लिए खेलना है तो।‘’

I am happy that the Excellence in Cricket academy will be touring Sri Lanka every month for 16 days. Sri Lanka is a great country from a scenic point of view. Having been a part of the 1996 Sri Lankan side that lifted the World Cup for the first time, I have seen how much progress has cricket made in the country with the standard constantly improving. The trainees from the EIC Academy will play against some of the best Sri Lankan teams and I'm sure that the quality of the matches will be such that both teams benefit from it.
