MS Dhoni won the toss and India will bat first in their opening match of the tri-series in Melbourne, where Australia named fast bowler Gurinder Sandhu for his ODI debut.
Sandhu, 21, will be the 206th man to represent Australia in one-day internationals and only the second to debut in the past 16 months. He replaced spinner Xavier Doherty in the only change to the line-up that beat England and gained a bonus point in Sydney on Friday.
India have chosen to go with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan as their opening pair, with Ajinkya Rahane to slot in at No.4.
