The Insurance Institute of India (III) conducted a seminar on 30th June 2026 on the theme "Reimagining Insurance in a Rapidly Transforming Risk Landscape." The seminar was organised as part of the 71st Foundation Day celebrations of the Institute.
During the Welcome Address, Shri P. Jaipuria, Secretary General, Insurance Institute of India, highlighted the Institute’s commitment towards strengthening professional capabilities and fostering collaborative engagement among stakeholders.
Chief Guest Shri R. Doraiswamy, CEO & MD, LIC of India, highlighted that insurance pe*******on continues to remain a concern and underscored the need for greater inclusivity. He also drew attention to emerging risks, including health-related issues, climate-related events, and cyber and digital fraud.
Mrs. Girija Subramanian, President, III & CMD, The New India Assurance Co. Ltd., focused on the growing challenges posed by climate-related events, cyber threats, and economic volatility.
Shri Ratnakar Patnaik, Deputy Chairman, BOE, III & MD, LIC of India, highlighted the importance of improving the Sum Assured-to-GDP ratio and addressing the protection gap. He also emphasised the need for III to strengthen its ‘Train the Trainers’ initiative.
The Inaugural session was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri Kedar Sant, Secretary, Insurance Institute of India, who thanked all speakers, panelists, and participants.
The seminar included two key thematic tracks. Firstly, The Fireside Chat on "Building Sustainable Growth with Customer Trust and Cost Discipline" focused on transparency, service delivery, and grievance redressal mechanisms by Shri. Rakesh Jain, CEO, IndusInd General Insurance moderated by Shri Shiv Kumar Singh, Faculty (General), College of Insurance.
The CDO Panel comprising the esteem speaker Smt. Anu Chaudhuri-Ghosh, Head Marketing and Business Administration, Star Union Dai-Ichi Life Insurance, Shri Atul Mehta, CDO-Institutional Business, Bajaj General Insurance, Shri Atul Srivastava, Chief Product and Distribution Officer, Ageas Federal Life Insurance, Shri Gaurav Saxena, Chief Distribution Officer – Bancassurance, Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, Shri Kamal Bharadwaj, Chief Distribution Officer – Corporate Solutions, TATA AIA Life Insurance on "Strengthening Suitability, Disclosure, Sales Governance and Customer Outcomes" addressed mis-selling concerns and emphasised stronger governance and alignment with customer needs which was moderated by Dr Ramesh Kumar Satuluri, Faculty (Research & Life), College of Insurance.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri Manish Raikar, Secretary, Insurance Institute of India, who thanked all speakers, panelists, and participants.

The Insurance Institute of India (III) is delighted to celebrate its 71st Foundation Day on 30th June 2026, marking over seven decades of contribution to professional excellence, capacity building, and knowledge leadership in the insurance sector.
The commemorative event will commence with inaugural addresses by a distinguished set of industry leaders, namely
Mr. Ratnakar Patnaik, Deputy Chairman (BOE), III and Managing Director, LIC of India;
Mr. R. Doraiswamy, CEO & Managing Director, LIC of India; and
Ms. Girija Subramanian, President, III and Chairman & Managing Director, The New India Assurance Company Limited, whose presence will lend great stature to the occasion.
The programme will commence with a welcome address by Mr. P. Jaipuria, Secretary General, Insurance Institute of India (III), setting the tone for a day of insightful deliberations and forward-looking dialogue
A key highlight of the programme will be a Fireside Chat with Mr. Rakesh Jain, Managing Director & CEO, IndusInd General Insurance, offering valuable perspectives on leadership, innovation, and the evolving insurance landscape. The session will be ably moderated by Mr. Shiv Kumar Singh, Faculty (General), III.
The event will also feature an engaging and thought-provoking Chief Distribution Officers (CDO) Panel Discussion, focusing on digital transformation and the future of insurance distribution and customer engagement.
