I've been learning Bharatanatyam for the past 7 years and I truly believe that learning this classical dance has given me a base to be bale to do other dance form and carry them out with grace. Getting to learn from Shobha Aunty through Skype is an amazing opportunity to learn in depth teachings of the theory and practical of Bharatanatyam. Having classes over Skype is not very different than having classes in person, I'm able to learn the Kalashtra style with proper teachings

I choose this dance Academy because I knew my daughter Payal would be taught the proper techniques of Bharatanatyam.I felt that was more important than just being on a stage in a glittery costume doing the same dance steps over and over. She has learned so much in the few months. She has been with the Academy, and has formed a love for Bharatanatyam that I never knew a 7yr old could!

Not only she is able to recognize the value of Bharatanatyam in all styles of dance, but she has also developed a love of all the arts and can discuss aspects of technique. Her desire to learn and perfect various movements of which she knows the official names(she is still teaching us the terminology!)can be attributed to the professionally trained teacher that ensures to impart the absolute correct teachings along with providing personal attention to details.

Shobha is a very good teacher and my 7 year old has learned a lot from her classes She has a precision in explaining techniques and is a very good and dedicated dancer herself.She is enthusiastic and patient with the kids and also maintains a good bond with them. She focuses on details and adapts to the child's learning ability. The constant encouragement and motivation builds the excitement for attending the classes and my daughter loves her for it.

First I started learning dance in school at the age of six. As days passed I grew more passionate about Bharatanatyam. It was at that time I heard about my teacher Shobha Kumar. She is an experience dancer who was previously teaching in an institute. I started learning under her at the institute. Among all the teachers there she was the best guide for me. She is a very nice teacher who has improved my posture considerably and also perfected my hand gestures.

When she started her own Academy I was extremely happy to be under her sole guidance. My flair and interest in dance grew with leaps and bounds. The class timings was for I hour inspite of that she used to teach for 1 and half hour without a complaint. In this Academy i got to learn the pure art form of Bharatanatyam.

My memorable day was when I had to perform for the first time under the banner of 'Shakuntala Arts'. 2 days before the performance I was nervous but with her guidance I was motivated to bring out the best in me. I got 2nd prize in the competition where I performed. All thanks to ma'am. I am extremely glad to have an opportunity to learn Bharatanatyam under her.

Dance has been my passion since I was in grade one.The graceful dancers with their captivating costumes was something that had always caught my eye. What appeals to me about Shakuntala Arts is their structured approach to the dance form which makes it easier to comprehend.

Learning Bharatanatyam Under Mrs.Shobha Kumar is a unique experience in itself. She is extremely patient and makes sure everything from our expression to our postures are perfected.

It is her strong belief in my capabilities that make me want to go that extra mile everyday. Not only is she a talented dancer but also a wonderful guide. She is capable of putting a student at ease and bringing out their hidden talents.

I am extremely grateful to be learning a wonderful art like Bharatanatyam under the banner of Shakuntala Arts.

I had started learning dance when I was 10 years old. As dance was my hobby I started learning from an institute under the guidance of Mrs. Shobha Kumar who was one of the teachers over there. She is a lady of inspiring personality and has always been there for me whether personally or professionally. She taught me that Bharatanatyam was more than Superficial poses and hand gestures. It has a deeper spiritual meaning and connection which if mastered can help us excel. She has faith in my ability and is always there to give me an extra push.

When I come to know Mrs. Shobha Kumar had started her own institute 'Shakuntala Arts'. I joined her institute to learn the pure art of Bharatanatyam.She trained me as a dancer and through her guidance my team of Shakuntala Arts volunteered in a summer camp conducted by U.C.D.C that helped me inculcate confidence and patient within me.

In 8 years of learning I never had an experience anything like this. We were vigorously trained and prepared to perfect every piece and adavus.It is all thanks to her never give up attitude that I can now say "DREAMS DO COME TRUE", I am happy to be a part of Shakuntala Arts.

I have been passionate about the dance since I was thirteen years old. Bharatanatyam is the root of all dance forms and holds immense respect.I started learning Bharatanatyam under Shree pavitra Arts Academy with Smt. Shobha Kumar. She was a trained Bhartanatyam dancer who had a keen eye for details. It was because of her guidance and motivation that I performed in so many places.
After some years Smt.Shobha Kumar started her own Academy. I was keen to learn from her. It was she who started grooming me as a dancer. Previously I had learnt the Tanjavoor style of this art form; In this Academy I am taught 'Kalakshetra' style which is known for its unique style and perfectionism. She trained me in the pure art form of Bharatanatyam. My passion for dance grew more. This Academy does not believe in compromising on quality to simplify teaching and learning. Perfection has been its endeavour.
Having learnt Bharatanatyam for more than 8 years, it has become an integral part of me. Behind every dancer who believes in themself is a teacher who believes in them first. She is the finest guide,philosopher and mentor I have ever come across. The untiring support of my mother and constant encouragement, love and zeal from my teacher Smt.Shobha Kumar is to what I owe many achievements in my life and some of the most memorable days! I have done performances under the banner of 'Shakuntala Arts' and also volunteered in a summer camp conducted by U.C.D.C(Urban Community Development Centre),taught Bharatanatyam dance for an hour everyday which helped me build my confidence.
I am extremely happy to be a part of Shakuntala Arts. A special thanks to God,my parents and my teacher for making it all happen.
