When you hear the word "lob" do you immediately think of a defensive shot? Well you shouldn't!

By taking a cue from the pros, in certain situations you can absolutely use the lob aggressively as a weapon.

So for today's video I demonstrate in my book the three "musts" for the backhand offensive lob. With just a little practice, you will quickly separate yourself from a majority of your peers at the club level. Check it out today's video:

As many of you know, I like to equate a lot of scenarios on the tennis court with food. But today I'm saying that it's OK to skip the main course and go straight for the dessert!

You see, a majority of the time that we go to the net we utilize any number of different types of approach shots. But every so often I want you to skip the approach shot altogether.

Check out today's video for my take on how to recognize and anticipate when your opponent is making this scenario available to you:

What's a perfect first serve percentage?

If I only gave 2 seconds to answer this question, I bet a lot of you would quickly blurt out "100%!".

While in actuality, even a 90% first serve percentage is not ideal.

So in today's video we're closely analyzing the serve percentages for the top pros and how they can apply your own game. Check it out:

Clay Court

The French Open is the only Grand Slam tournament to use clay courts.
Clay courts are made of crushed shale, stone, or brick. A clay court is constructed using natural stone that is crushed to different levels. The finest level - a powder - is used for the uppermost layer, top dressing, and loosely bound together with water. The most common forms are red clay made from brick and grey clay, basalt.

Advantages - Clay courts slow down the ball and produce a high bounce in comparison to grass courts or hard courts. So, the clay court takes away many of the advantages of big serves, which makes it hard for serve-based players to dominate on the surface. Also, the mobile top dressing allows controlled sliding, which can make it more comfortable to play. Repairs are inexpensive.

Use - Outdoor clay courts are not normally used in areas with high rainfall, as they relatively long time to dry, hence reducing the time available for play.
Clay courts need to be rolled to preserve flatness. The clay's water content must be balanced; green courts generally require the courts to be sloped to allow water run-off.
Clay courts are more common in Europe and Latin America than in North America and tend to heavily favor baseline players.

Dimensions for a Typical Tennis Court

Tennis is played on a rectangular flat surface, usually of grass, clay or hard material.
The dimensions of a tennis court are defined and regulated by the International Tennis Federation(ITF) governing body. The court is 78 feet (23.77 meters) long. Its width is 27 feet (8.23 meters) for singles matches and 36 feet (10.97 meters) for doubles matches.
The service line is 21 feet (6.40 meters) from the net.
Additional clear space around the court is needed in order for players to reach overrun balls for a total of 60 feet (18 meters) wide and 120 feet (37 meters) long.
A net is stretched across the full width of the court, parallel with the baselines, dividing it into two equal ends. The net is 3 feet 6 inches (1.07 meters) high at the posts, and 3 feet (0.91 meters) high in the center.
The net posts are 3 feet (0.91 meters) outside the doubles court on each side or, for a singles net, 3 feet (0.91 meters) outside the singles court on each side.

A tennis court is the place where tennis is played.
It is a rectangular area with a low net stretched across the centre and used to play doubles and singles tournaments.
A variety of surfaces can be used to create a tennis court, each with its own characteristics which affect the playing style of the game.
