India's table tennis star Manika Batra made a stunning comeback against world number 32 Margaryta Pesotska to reach the women's singles third round.
Manika, ranked 62, made a remarkable comeback after losing the first two games to prevail 4-11, 4-11, 11-7, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7 in a second round match that lasted 57 minutes.

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu gave India its first medal at Tokyo 2020 as she won the silver medal in the women's 49kg weightlifting category. A new Olympic record was registered by Mirabai Chanu with a successful lift of 115kg in clean and jerk.

The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8 this year after getting postponed in 2020 due to COVID-19. Mr kiren Rijiju said, the government is doing everything to provide support to the elite and junior athletes. âOur athletes are happy and getting ready for Tokyo Olympics. Despite pandemic Govt is doing everything possible to support our athletes to make India proud. Honâble PM ji has given clear direction to provide full support to our elite as well as junior athletes,â Mr Rijiju tweeted along with a video.

Professional training and education company Ironwood Education has roped in Indian cricket teams head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach B Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar as advisory board members to mentor and guide in program development for certified cricket coaching at various levels.
The company announced the launch of a certification program for Cricket Coach Education and Development. The certification program will be a mix of digital and on-ground methodologies, techniques, and tools.
