Prize Distribution Ceremony

CCI played host to the TATA OPEN India International Challenge -2014 conducted by the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy under the auspices of the Maharashtra Badminton Association and the Badminton Association of India.

The matches were held at the CCI Badminton courts from 10th to 14th Dec. 2014. More than 100 national players added to the international participation in this mega circuit event which carried a prize money of US Dollars 15000.

A galaxy of Indian Badminton stars was headed by H.S. Prannoy, the Indonesian Open Champion with a world rank of 22 along with other world top 50 player such as Saurabh Verma, R.M.V. Gurusaidutt, P.C. Thulasi and Sai Praneeth. Over 150 matches were played in five disciplines namely Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles with Indian shuttlers claiming all the titles.

H.S. Prannoy and G Rutvika Sawant won the titles in the men’s and women's singles category respectively. Manu Attri claimed a double crown by winning the mixed doubles with S**i Reddy and the men’s doubles with Sumeeth Reddy. The women’s doubles was won by Prajakta Sawant and Aparna Balan.

The arena was packed to capacity with members and spectators who had an opportunity to witness spectacular badminton as the players showcased their talent and skills. The event was covered Live by Doordarshan along with an impromptu interview of Mr. Kekoo Nicholson - CCI President and Mr. Sachin Bajaj - CCI Badminton Vice Chairman.
