What significance does this picture hold in the history of Indian Cricket?

This is David Frith --- --the then Wisden Editor .. who , at the start of the 1983 World Cup , had objected to the idea of India being invited to the Cup , given their dismal record . He wrote an article in Wisden to the same effect, to which someone in Canada had objected.
He indeed got that letter published in Wisden and added "I'd be happy to Eat My Words if India progress beyond the league stage".
After the World Cup Win , he actually got a photograph clicked with him eating the pages of Wisden , where the article was published.

In 1951, Gustaf Håkansson signed up for an endurance race traversing virtually the entirety of Sweden, only for his submission to be rejected because of his age. It was determined that the 66-year-old had neither the strength nor the stamina to compete with the 50 other racers half his age. Nevertheless, having ridden 600 miles to get to the starting line, Gustaf was there on race day in the saddle of his roadster complete with mudguards, a headlamp (which is what eventually helped him emerge victorious) and panniers.

Due to the volume of racers, Gustaf crossed the starting line about 20 seconds after the race had started. He had donned a homemade bib with the number 0, probably to indicate to the officials he wasn't joking and that he was indeed expecting to be treated as a participant.
The truth is, Håkansson cheated. Well, he didn't actually cheat, seeing as he wasn't an official competitor, but he did neglect one rule the others were forced to follow.
After three days and only five hours' sleep, Gustaf was leading the field by more than 120 miles. At one point the police tried to persuade him to stop for a medical examination, but he only laughed – and pedalled on.
Eventually, with only 800 yards or so to go, "steel grandpa" (as he became known in the villages he'd passed through) came to an abrupt halt. But it wasn't sheer exhaustion that had stopped him – the old man's bicycle had suffered its first and only flat tyre.
Unperturbed, Gustaf dismounted and set towards the finish line where, with only a few yards to go, he remounted to cross the line at 2:15pm on July 7, 1951.
Despite the albeit unofficial victory, a subsequent audience with the king of Sweden and generally being showered in fame and honour, Gustaf's greatest satisfaction came from proving wrong the doctors who had thought he was better suited in a rocking chair than he was in a saddle.
The Steel Grandpa continued to ride bicycles until his death in 1987 at the age of 102.

Krish Sports Foundation recognizes and praises the efforts and determination of Gustaf Håkansson who proved himself against all odds.

Next time if you feel demotivated or curse your fortune, remember how these guys made it big and battled their way to success.

Sandeep Pawara and sunil pawara are true example of courage and bravery. They are an inspiration for all those who give up because of the hardships in their lives. They were born in small village(tribal sector) few kms away from Shirpur Maharashtra. The route to their village is through mountains. They had to walk few kms everyday through mountains and hills to reach school. Their fathers are farmer and mothers are housewife. The basic amenities like television, internet etc. are lacking in their village. They belongs to a tribal sector where their family earns from hand to mouth. They have to struggle very hard in order for their livelihood.

Using energy and resources to meet the demands of the hardship, rather than using up energy in denial, all these trials, they marched on and turned out positive in every aspect from sports to academics being their truly best.

We Krish Sports Foundation feel extremely proud and wish them all the best for their future endeavours!

Praveen Kumar - surpassing greater heights!

India’s Praveen Kumar is all of 17 years old and has already qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics for the high jump event. Praveen followed a rigorous training schedule but life came to a standstill when the COVID19 pandemic stuck.

To add to his woes, he was unable to train with his coach, Satyapal Singh for over three months. Not to be bogged down by circumstances, he did not want to lose focus and rhythm of the training, and converted his farm into a make-shift arena. He dug a small pit and filled it up with soft mud to reduce the impacts on his knees on landing.

His coach is confident about Praveen’s campaign and has high aspirations of him winning a gold medal for India. KRISH SPORTS Foundation salutes the spirit of Praveen and wishes him luck for the Paralympics!

Ever since then, she enjoyed running and had quickly improved. Two years later, she joined her first competition.
"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream and there’s no time like the present to start"

Devendra Jhajharia’s life story Devendra Jhajharia became India’s second gold medal winner at the Rio Paralympics
after he broke his own world record with a throw of 63.7m in the men’s F46 Javelin
Throw. It was a historic moment for the country as Devendra became the first Indian to win two individual Gold medals at the Paralympics/Olympics – the one-armed thrower
had won the gold medal at the Athens Games in 2004.
Jhajharia, who already has a long list of achievements to his name, was born into a
low-income family of Churu district in Rajasthan. At the age of eight, he lost his left hand
after accidentally touching an electric wire while trying to climb a tree. His success as a
javelin thrower – made tougher against the backdrop of financial disabilities – is
testament to his willpower and physical prowess. India’s flag-bearer at the 2016
paralympics, Jhajharia was awarded the Arjuna award in 2004 and the Padma Shri in
2012, becoming the first Paralympian to receive the honour. The story of how he
overcame huge odds to emerge a winner is deeply inspiring and deserves to be made
into a biopic.

On sunday, Mr. Navin Shetty, the founder of Krish Sports Foundation distributed groceries and other necessary items. He distributed it to several groundsmen of several maidaans without whose support cricket association’s work would not be enough.
They work day and night for cricket at root level on basic things. From keeping the surroundings clean to making sure that everything is organised properly for event days.
As a family of the cricket association, we have all come together to show appreciation towards these workers. We are grateful to have them working for the cricket association.
