From Tennessee to Tendulkar, Dramatic Readings are a great way for thespians and non-thespians to discover texts and scripts from across the globe!
In this edition, we will be celebrating pride by performing the reading of brilliant and precocious Ismat Chugtai’s Lihaaf. This is a tale of liberation, drama, and euphemisms galore! ‘Published in the year 1941, way before Independence, in an Urdu Literary Journal titled Adaab-i-Latif. It was about repressed sexual desires and the exploitation of another’s body to fulfill oneself.
So to all our guys, gals, and non-binary pals! Come and join us in reawakening Ismat Chugtai’s incredible creation and in a lively discussion that will follow the performance!
