One week you could be supporting a driving experience. The next, touring across India on an expedition or working with the team at an off-road event.

Cougar Motorsport is looking for people who want to turn their interest in driving into a long-term profession.

We’ll instruct suitable candidates, help them gain experience across our programmes and equip them to eventually instruct others.

If sitting behind a desk was never quite what you had in mind, then perhaps this is the job for you.

Somewhere between Leh and the plains, the expedition found another gear.

Mountain rivers below, sweeping roads ahead, momentary stops for photographs and kilometre after kilometre behind the Three-Pointed Star.

We were driving back, but the adventure and wonderment were far from over.

Departing Leh was never just about heading back.

Past monasteries, prayer flags and roads cut through the mountains, Ladakh showed us a few more reasons to slow down and look around.

The G-Tribe may have been homeward bound, but the Himalayas were far from finished with us and left us spellbound at every turn.

The Himalayas seldom give you the same expedition twice.

The road may be familiar, but the mountains have other ideas. The weather turns, the light shifts, and suddenly a pass or valley you thought you knew feels entirely new.

The second Mercedes-Benz G-Tribe Himalayan Escapade set out from Leh, retracing the high roads towards Chandigarh. Across Ladakh’s vast plateaus and mountain passes, through Jispa and Manali, the altitude gradually fell, but the scale of the adventure never really did.

…And somehow, still not enough.

Ladakh changed character almost by the hour.

Camels and desert sands. Mountain roads twisting past rivers. Snow at the high passes. Long stretches behind the wheel, discussions at the stops, and instants when everyone simply stood speechless and took it all in.

Through every change, the G-Tribe kept heading higher until the road reached Umling La at 19,000 ft.

900 km. 7 days. And far more memories than either number can hold.

This was the Three-Pointed Star at the pinnacle of the extraordinary.

Ladakh switched the view without warning, and always much to our delight.

A road tracing the river. Bare mountains rising around us. And then, snow, turning an already memorable drive into something extraordinary.

We drove through it, stopped in it, and played in it. Because sometimes the best moments are experienced outside the cab of your Mercedes-Benz SUV.

The G-Tribe caught a little Himalayan magic.

Ladakh beats to a tune of its own. Fast roads give way to mountain bends. Tarmac meets water, rock turns to sand, and somewhere along the way, a bunch of strangers start acting like a Tribe.

Through it all, the Mercedes-Benz SUVs found their pace with ease.

Some drives are remembered for where they took you. This one, for all that it showed you along the way, behind the wheel of a Three-Pointed Star.

Ladakh doesn’t quite unfold in a straight line.

One moment you’re crossing Khardung La, the next descending into Nubra. Then comes Turtuk, near the edge of the map, with monasteries tucked intoevery nook, cold desert sands, and, eventually, that first sight of a ‘sea of azure’ silhouetted by mountains.

715 km. 7 days. And a side of Ladakh that revealed itself unhurriedly, yet unexpectedly.

Perhaps that’s why you remember so much of it.

19,000 ft changes the conversation.

Umling La was never simply another point on the route. It was the moment we had been driving towards.

And when the G-Tribe finally arrived, there really wasn’t much left to say but to take in the grandeur of the surroundings.

The Land of High Places seldom reveals itself all at once.

A bend in the road, an interlude by the water, snow where you least expect it, a caravan of camels and stark expanses where there seems to be limitless grandness for kilometres on end.

This was a day of discovering this utopia as it emerged.

And perhaps that was the best way to see it.
