The Oak Tree Falls
Delhi Poetry Festival, our patrons, board members and poetry lovers are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of our beloved board patron and Padma Shri Surjit Patar Ji.

Patar Saab, as we lovingly addressed him, was renowned as the Oak tree of Punjabi literature. His passing away has left all his peers as well as millions of his followers crestfallen. This void in the world of literature will be felt for a long time to come.

Patar Saab was an incredibly humble and unpretentious personality and met everyone with a kind smile.

When we decided to celebrate 300 years of Waris Shah at the seventh edition of the Delhi Poetry Festival in December 2022, we could not think of doing so without his presence. We consider ourselves hugely fortunate to have had the honour of his presence when he graced the stage of the Delhi Poetry Festival.

Our heart goes out to the family, Bhupinder Kaur Ji as well as Manraj and Ankur in this difficult time and we pray that his soul find eternal peace.

Let us all remember this grand old man of Punjabi literature with some of our most cherished memories with him.

AI Writing vs Traditional Writing: DPF Founder's Take on the Future of Literature 16/04/2024

My article/ interview about merits and demerits of AI generated writing as against traditional writing. As a poet and a writer, I believe all creative works of writing come from heart and soul. The cold, impersonal tone of AI kills creativity.
These are purely my thoughts.
Pls indulge 😊

AI Writing vs Traditional Writing: DPF Founder's Take on the Future of Literature In March 2024, I was startled by a friend, who shared a certain screenshot of a poem penned by a very acclaimed writer, pointing out that it has been penend usign ChatGPT. She had ample evidence, but even the writer had evidence enough to counter her claims. Who out of the two was right? The topic

Putting together a day to celebrate women, as well as address urban women’s issues has been the labour of love.
One would ask, why an all-women event! Are we projecting them as a gender that needs upliftment? My response is that women need to be celebrated. They have come a long way. They have gone through a metamorphosis. We will not pretend and say that urban women are completely empowered since they are educated and self-reliant. We all know they are fighting a battle to stay on top, to stay afloat. That’s why they need to be applauded and appreciated.

We invite women and men to celebrate the spirit of women.

Come, and meet Mona on Sunday, March 17 at Kunzum Kunzum Books GK2

Magic in Movement- The Dance Therapy.

Mona Bhasin- the line dance ambassador inspiring many women.
She has been teaching Line Dance since 2011. She firmly believes that following and teaching this routine has yielded the best return. A Masters in English Literature and a degree in Personnel Management was never enough. What completed her was being trained as an instructor and choreographer in this dance form
The ride through different and varied sectors in her working career defines what she enjoys in her classes today.
In that order, managing a finance company, microfinance skill development, theatre, conceptualizing, preparing and executing fundraisers and now teaching dance are part of her professional journey.
12 years of running a Non-Banking Finance company, and training urban slum women while developing microfinance initiatives in their colonies, did not throw challenges like some dance class situations do and she is happy for her experience.
The walk across different professions gives her a sense of freedom. It also makes her kitty of experiences big and rich.

To marry, or not to marry? Or, when to marry!? Are societal pressures responsible for young women making forced choices lest the' right age' passes on? Why do self-reliant women succumb to such time-bound pressures?
Let’s discuss this and also, long-distance relationships, live-ins, situationship, divorces, remarriage, and more facets of relationships from a woman’s perspective.
In conversation, Sunita Nagpal, Deepika Shergill and Priti Prakash
