Here's to play...

For all of us, the last few months have been difficult. We are all coping with anxiety, stress, and grief. We are mourning our loved ones, holding onto memories, being a shoulder to someone else. We learned not to take anything for granted. We learned to embrace our relationships, we learned to hold hands. We learnt all that in the hard way.
We never ceased to believe in spite of all these. In fact, it is our faith that kept us floating. We believed that play makes this world a better place, a little more equitable place, a little more just place. We believed in making everyone to feel connected to their body, to celebrate movement, together.
While it was painful for us to stay away from our communities, we spent numerous hours infront of the electronic screens to establish the empathic connect. We kept our hopes high, because every Friday all of you joined us online, because every week we worked through network problems, unavailability of phones and all the other logistics to connect with our little friends, to play for 40 minutes.
Here's to the hope, here's to the play, here's to the sunshine.

ELMS Sports Foundation

Do you know any children who would like to do a fun activity everyday for 10 minutes. Send their parents' WhatsApp number to us!
We have started an open WhatsApp group for children from class 1 to class 10. We share 1 fun physical activity everyday for the children to perform staying at home as part of our "10 minutes of joy" campaign. Parents or guardians will shoot a small clip of the child performing the activity everyday and will post on the same WhatsApp group to maintain the excitement on the group.
If you think you know any such children who will be interested to do these fun activities in your family, friends or neighbours we will be glad to have WhatsApp contact numbers of their parents or guardians.
Please DM us the name of the child, name of the parent / guardian, and their contact number if you think they will be interested to be part of this WhatsApp group. It will be great if you talk to them once before sharing their number.
Lets bring 10 minutes of joy to the children who are stuck at home!

We have been able to deliver a basic grocery supply kit to 125 families of students from our schools in Delhi NCR.
It is after a great help from some of our friends and Wipro Foundation.
Saajha, sang_yifcovid19 and My Story have been with us all along.
This still looks like a very small contribution when we look at how big the problem is.

We launch our youtube channel with this clip of 2 children enjoying during lockdown at their homes.
This is a campaign we have started with all the children in our schools, they do one fun activity everyday sent by our team members everyday through WhatsApp!
This joy we see on their faces is what keeps all of us going.

Art of Play Covid-19 relief initiative update:
WE HAVE DELIVERED THE RELIEF MATERIAL TO 66 FAMILIES!

With the help and support of all of you, we had faith in what we could do as a team and reached out to the families of the children in all our schools and communities in Delhi for support. We were also able to get funding support from one of our long standing partner organization, hence we are in a position to reach out to at least 200 families with relief material supply.
We, at Art of Play are grateful and overwhelmed with the kind of belief you have in the work that we are doing. It has given us strength so far and will keep giving us strength to keep doing the work. Thank you from the entire team of Art of Play Foundation.

The update so far is as following:

Relief material delivered: 66 families
Relief material request submitted to supply partners: 41 families
Pending to be delivered: 92

Target: To reach to all the 92 pending families with relief material supply by Sunday, 17th May 2020.

For whatever its worth, we have managed to deliver ration to 4 families till last night with all your love and support!
We have identified another 5-6 families who will receive the supply in next 3-4 days.
We are also reaching out to another 700+ families on call to confirm the status of their requirement.
Thanks for keeping our backs and helping us in the times of need!
With continued support from people like you we are looking to reach out to 100+ families with supplies in next couple of weeks, now that we have figured the logistics.

Help 50+ Families Get Through The Covid-19 Lockdown Crisis In the past few days, we have identified 50+ families in different parts of Delhi who are in need of critical support. We are providing them with dry ration worth INR 2000 per family. Please do contribute and share.
