The grand finale of the SOP Arena Sunrise Cricket League lived up to its expectations as Fearless Fighters produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Old Monkers Cricket Club by 9 wickets, lifting the championship trophy in style.
Old Monkers Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their innings got off to the worst possible start as Hardik Gadhia struck with the very first ball of the match. Hardik continued his sensational spell, dismissing the top order and finishing with outstanding figures of 4 wickets for 19 runs. At the other end, Avinash matched the intensity, claiming 4 wickets for 28 runs, while Dipesh Chaudhary and captain Naman chipped in with a wicket each.
Despite the early collapse, Sandeipp Sassi fought bravely with a composed 44 off 33 balls, receiving good support from Himanshu Mehta, who contributed 30 off 35 balls. Their partnership helped Old Monkers recover and post a competitive 137 all out in 19.1 overs.
Chasing 138, Fearless Fighters came out with fearless intent. Hayat Mirza dominated the powerplay with a blistering 57 off 30 balls, smashing 5 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 190.00. After his dismissal, Sandeep Singh continued the assault, remaining unbeaten on 56 off 32 balls, while Abhishek Rana provided the perfect finishing touch with an explosive 18 off just 4 deliveries*.
Fearless Fighters chased down the target in just 10.5 overs, finishing on 139/1, completing one of the most dominant victories of the tournament.
