History Made for Goa!

Erica J. De Sequeira has etched her name in Goa’s sporting history by becoming Goa’s first-ever MMA India Youth National Champion. Her remarkable achievement marks a milestone for mixed martial arts in the state and reflects years of dedication, discipline, and hard work.

Competing under MMA India, the national governing body for amateur mixed martial arts in India and the official national federation affiliated with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), Erica earned one of the highest honours in Indian amateur MMA. IMMAF is the internationally recognized governing body for amateur mixed martial arts and oversees the global pathway for the sport.

Training under Coach Ronnyy (Raunak Singh) at the Academy of Combat Sports Goa, Erica delivered a dominant championship campaign. She won her opening bout by unanimous decision, secured a TKO victory in her second fight, and concluded the tournament with another unanimous decision to capture the national title.

This historic victory is a proud moment for the Academy of Combat Sports Goa, further demonstrating the academy’s commitment to producing elite mixed martial arts athletes. Under the guidance of Coach Ronnyy, Erica has developed into one of India’s most promising young MMA competitors through disciplined training, technical excellence, and unwavering determination.

From Goa to the World: 16-Year-Old Erica De Sequeira Becomes Olympians Combat Academy's First Indian Female Athlete, Set to Represent India at the Highest Level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu


Goa / Chennai: Olympians Combat Academy, Chennai, has announced the signing of Erica De Sequeira, a 16-year-old international martial arts athlete from the Academy of Combat Sports Goa, where she trains under Coach Ronnyy (Raunak Singh). With this signing, Erica becomes the academy's first Indian female athlete, reflecting its commitment to developing India's next generation of elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors.
The academy has selected Erica to represent India at upcoming international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships, including the prestigious AJP (Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro), IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) and ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club), where she will compete against some of the world's top athletes.

Goa’s young kickboxing talent Giovanna De Sequeira delivered an outstanding performance at the National Kickboxing Championship 2026 (Sub-Junior Boys & Girls) held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from 17th to 21st June 2026.

Competing in the Younger Cadet (-32 kg) category, Giovanna participated in both Light Contact (LC) and Kick Light (KL) events. Displaying remarkable determination, skill, and fighting spirit, she fought the maximum number of bouts among the Goan contingent and secured a Silver Medal in the Kick Light event, emerging as one of the top contenders of the championship.

The prestigious national event witnessed the participation of nearly 1,300 athletes from across India, making her achievement even more commendable.
