Badminton have been played for centuries across. It's name got originated from Duke of Beaufort's badminton house in Gloucestershire but when remains unclear . It was largely played in british India . As it was most popular in Poona it came to be known as same . England Badminton Association is first in world to held matches internationally . Then Badminton World Federation got founded by England , Scotland , Wales, Canada , Denmark , France , iceland , Netherland , New Zealand . India joined federation in the year 1936 .
