🦶 TRIPOD FOOT – The Three Points of Support
A strong foundation begins with the way your foot meets the ground.
The foot is designed to distribute body weight through three primary contact points, forming what is known as the Tripod Foot:
✔ Base of the big toe
✔ Base of the little toe
✔ Centre of the heel
When these three points maintain appropriate contact with the ground, they help:
• Distribute body weight efficiently
• Improve balance and stability
• Transmit ground reaction forces upward through the ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, spinal column, and skull
• Create a stable foundation for efficient movement
Take a moment to observe your own feet while standing.
❓Can you feel all three points touching the ground?
❓Is your weight distributed evenly?
❓Is the base of your big toe lifting?
❓Are you gripping the ground with your toes?
Small changes at the foot can influence movement throughout the body.
✨ Understand the foot.
✨ Observe the movement.
✨ Build a stronger foundation.

Yoga is not about touching our toes.
It is about touching our true potential.
Health is not created with coping different forms of body force or flexibility alone.
It is created when we learn to work in harmony with the universal principles that govern the body—space, movement, equilibrium, pressure, and conscious action.
At Swati Yoga Shalaa™, Yoga is a systematic journey from dysfunction to function, from compensation to coordination, and from survival to thriving.
This International Yoga Day, choose not just to practice Yoga—
Choose to understand our body, refine our movement, and align with nature's intelligence.
Yoga for Health. Yoga for Awareness. Yoga for Life.

Why is the foot the foundation of our body and movement?
🦶 THE FOOT – Foundation of Our Body and Movement
Every step we take begins at the foot.
"The foot is much more than a structure for standing and walking."
WHY IS THE FOOT IMPORTANT?
✔ Supports body weight
✔ Maintains balance and stability
✔ Transmits ground reaction forces upward through the body
✔ Provides sensory feedback for movement
✔ Forms the foundation of posture and movement
With every movement, the feet continuously provide sensory information to the brain, helping us maintain posture, stability, and efficient movement patterns.
When the foundation is strong and functions well, the body can distribute forces more efficiently.
When foot mechanics are altered, the effects may gradually influence the ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, spinal column, skull, and the quality of movement throughout the entire body.
In the Anatomy Series, we will explore the foot step by step and understand how its structure and movement influence the entire body.
✨ Understand the foot.
✨ Observe the movement.
✨ Improve the foundation.
