Comprehensive Review and Audit of the SPIRIT Project’s Progress, Impact and Management.
External Evaluator Mr. Ulrik Martensson, Director of Studies at the Department of Physical Geography & Ecosystems Sciences, Lund University, Sweden, visited Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) on 22 June 2024 to conduct a comprehensive review and audit of the SPIRIT project’s progress, impact and management.
During his visit, Mr. Martensson particularly review each work package (WP) deliverable, evaluate the financial utilization, and assess the overall performance & sustainability of the project.
Dr. Kirti Mahajan, Project Head briefed him about the university, the SPIRIT project dissemination, deliverables, and the project's impact on both institutional and national levels.
The visit included curriculum presentations by Dr. Swati Bhise, Principal of the School of Physiotherapy, Pune; Dr. Sneha Katke, from the School of Physiotherapy, Sangli and Dr Swapnil Vidhate, Principal College of Physical Education, Pune.
Mr. Martensson engaged in discussions with faculty members and students from the College of Physical Education, and the Schools of Physiotherapy, Pune and Sangli.
He also met with Dr. Vivek Saoji, Vice Chancellor of BV(DU); Mr. G. Jayakumar, Registrar; and Mrs. Aishwarya Hardikar, Finance Officer, to discuss feedback and also given his views on the project completion.
Mr. Martensson visited the College of Physical Education, Pune to monitor the gym and equipment's which purchased through fund of SPIRIT project, were Dr Netaji Jadhav, Director, Department of Sports along with Gym instructor briefed him about Sports Club and Gym facilities for students, faculty and community.
This visit was successful and witnessed the commitment to achieving excellence and fostering impactful outcomes through the SPIRIT project.

Enhancing Global Health: BV(DU) participate in SPIRIT Project Training Program in Sri Lanka

We are proud to announce that Prof. Dr. Kirti Mahajan, Project Head, and Dr. Anushree Narekuli, Professor at the School of Physiotherapy, Pune, along with Ms. Isha Shah, a student from the School of Physiotherapy, Sangli, recently participated in the SPIRIT Project training program held in Sri Lanka. This prestigious event was organized by the University of Peradeniya and Sabaragamuwa University from June 2nd to 9th, 2024.

The SPIRIT Project training program focuses on the critical role of physical activity in reducing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and prevention and treatments on sports injuries. Bringing together experts from around the globe, this program aims to share knowledge and strategies to combat NCDs through physical activity.

Participation in this program by our esteemed faculty and student has significantly bolstered international collaborations and emphasized the importance of Sports, Physical Education, Sport Physiotherapy in promoting inclusion and recognition. These goals are perfectly aligned with the primary objectives of the SPIRIT Project.

Prof. Dr. Mahajan remarked, "Engaging in this training program has provided us with invaluable insights into the global strategies for reducing NCDs through physical activity. It was a remarkable opportunity to collaborate with international experts and bring back innovative practices to our institutions in India."

Dr. Narekuli added, "The emphasis on sports and physical education not only promotes physical health but also fosters social inclusion and recognition, which are essential for holistic community development."

Ms. Isha Shah expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "Participating in this program has been a transformative experience for me as a student. I have learned so much about the global efforts to combat NCDs and the pivotal role of physical activity in these initiatives."

Our participation in this international training program highlights our commitment to global health initiatives and our continuous efforts to improve public health through education and collaboration.

BHARATI VIDYAPEETH SPIRIT SPORTS CLUB under the project of SPIRIT ERASMUS+ organized activity “FUN RUN 5KMS” on the occasion of world hypertension day on19th May 2024 from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.
The main objective of the event was to promote fitness and spread awareness about the importance of fitness to control hypertension. The run included warm up and cool down session where stretching exercises were carried out by the students of BPTh of BVDU School of Physiotherapy, Sangli. The run route consisted of 5kms extending from Bharati ground to Vishrambag chowk. The flag off was done by Hon. H.M Kadam Sir. More than 50 participants took part in the run.
The coordinator of the event was Gaurav Mangle (Student president, Bharati SPIRIT Sports Club) Guided by Dr. Sachin Shetti (Associate Professor, BVDU SOPT Sangli) . The event was successful under the guidance of Dr. Sneha Katke (Principal, (BVDU SOP, Sangli).

International SportsUnite 2024 - A Multidisciplinary Conference

Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University)'s School of Physiotherapy and Office of International Affairs successfully organized the "International SportsUnite 2024" - A Multidisciplinary Conference under the Erasmus+ SPIRIT project on February 3rd and 4th, 2024, at Bharati Vidyapeeth Dhankawadi Campus.

Distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Hon. Mr. Abhijeet Kunte, Indian Chess Player & Chess Grand Master of India, and Guest of Honor Hon. Mr. Mandar Tamhane, CEO Northeast United FC, graced the occasion. The event also witnessed the presence of eminent personalities such as Hon. Dr. Asmita Jagtap, Hon. Dr. Vivek Saoji, Shri. G Jaykumar, Dr. Mandar Karmarkar.

Dr. Kirti Mahajan served as the Conference Advisor, while Dr. Swati Bhise acted as the Organizing Chairperson. Dr. Anushree Narekulli and Dr. Rachana Dabhadgav jointly held the position of Organizing Secretary. Dr. Sneha Katke and Dr. Swapnil Viddate were also in attendance at this program.
The conference witnessed participation from 422 attendees representing India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. It featured 70 paper presentations covering diverse disciplines such as Physiotherapy, Nutrition, and Sports Psychology, addressing a broad spectrum of sports-related topics.

The speakers, adopting a multidisciplinary approach, provided insightful guidance on various subjects, including Sports Psychology, Sports Nutrition, Sports Dentistry, Sports Training, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Rehabilitation, Para-athletes sports, Sleep & Exercise performance, and the Importance of 3D printing technology in healthcare industries.

The success of 'International SportsUnite 2024' underscores Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University)'s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary discourse and fostering excellence in sports education.

The SPIRIT Team from BVDU recently participated in the International ISBR Business School Conference and the SPIRIT Project Erasmus Plus training programme & meeting, in Bangalore from February 29 to March 5, 2024. Representatives from various European and Asian countries, including Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia, attended this event. The conference focused on global innovations, sustainable practices, and emerging trends in academia and research.

As a project head Prof. Dr. Kirti Mahajan, along with Dr. Sneha Katke, Dr. Sachin Shetti, Dr. Prashant Naik, and two students from the School of Physiotherapy, Sangli, namely Siddharth Khadilkar & Diya Bhadavankar represented the BVDU Team at the conference. Their active participation contributed to the success of the event and further strengthened international collaborations in promoting a healthier society.

During the conference, the participants engaged in discussions and activities aimed at fostering collaboration in academic research and community service. Special emphasis was placed on promoting the importance of exercise and good nutrition, particularly among marginalized groups such as women, children, and individuals with disabilities. The SPIRIT Club, with members from different countries, discussed various sports activities and traditional dances as preventive measures against non-communicable diseases.

Each team presented their contributions on sports and other social activities. Dr. Prashant Naik represented BVDU during the presentations, highlighting the universities contributions to sports and social activities. Students were given the opportunity to express their thoughts and reflections on the past five days. Sidharth from BVDU shared his views on the importance of research, education, and skill development. This provided a platform for students to voice their opinions and contribute to the overall learning experience.

One highlight of the event was the Walkathon held on March 3, 2024, with the theme "Walk for Unity, Empowerment, Health, and Well-Being." Nearly 1000 participants walked along the track at ISBR Business School, Bangalore, India, to promote unity and raise awareness about health and well-being.

BVDU’s participant Principal Dr. Sneha Katke, Dr. Prashant Naik and Dr. Sachin Shetti presented three research papers at the conference, and Dr.Sneha Katke had the honor of receiving the Best Paper Award among various tracks.
