16 IT Teams come together to compete for supremacy at the annual ACI Inter IT T20 Cup that will be h The final is scheduled for 23rd Feb 2014.
The annual inter-IT T20 Cup has 16 teams competing for supremacy and for the share of Rs 1.75 lakh prize money organized and sponsored by ACI Worldwide. The tournament will be held at two grounds—Nehru Stadium and PYC Hindu Gymkhana Cricket Ground, Pune and will be played only on weekends from 14th Dec 2013 to 23rd Feb 2014. Sungard won the ACI Inter IT T20 tournament final at the Nehru Stadium today! They beat HSBC GLT by scoring 117 runs in 11.5 overs and with 8 wickets in hand. It was a comprehensive victory and a fitting one for Sungard who have peaked as a unit running up to the final.
Brief Scores :
HSBC GLT --> 112 for 9 in 20 overs. R. Raghunathan scored 29 runs. Pawan Anand picked up 2 wickets for 16 runs.
Sungard --> 117 for 2 wickets. Man-Of-The-Final Prashant Pol scored 58 runs (12 boundaries).
Sungard picked up the championship trophy and a cash prize of Rs 41000. HSBC GLT picked up the runners-up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 31000.
The tournament top players are :
Best Batsman : Geet Desai for scoring 211 runs. (Sungard).
Best Bowler : Vilakshan Dhadwal for snaring 13 wickets giving away 115 runs. (HSBC GLT).
Man of The Series : Kanishk Singh for scoring 208 runs and picking up 8 wickets. (Barclays).

SUNGARD is the ACI Inter IT T20 Cup 2014 Championship WINNER!!
Spearheaded by Man-Of-The-Final Prashant Pol's knock of 58 runs (39 balls, 12 boundaries) they chased down the target of 112 runs set by HSBC - by scoring 117 runs in just 11.5 overs!
In what turned out to be a one sided affair, Sungard won the toss and elected to field first. For HSBC R. Raghunath top scored with 29 runs in 34 balls (2 boundaries) but the only other contributions came from Sanjay Lokhande (16 runs) and Jacog George (15 runs). Sungard bowled extremely well and Pawan Anand led the charge for them by accounting for 2 HSBC wickets giving away just 16 runs.
The chase began extremely well for Sungard. Prashant Pol smashed 12 boundaries in his 58 run knock and along with Abhijit Deshpande (22 runs), took the game away from HSBC. In the end, Sungard chased the target with ease and won in 11.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand!

The knock out stage has been extremely interesting and with four top teams making the cut, the semifinals turned out to be thrilling encounters!!
Played at the Shinde Highschool and on a sporting wicket, HSBC and Barclays faced each other for a place in the final. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the HSBC pair of Navid Shrinivas and R. Raghunathan paired well to score 42 and 25 runs respectively, to help their side notch up a score of 140 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Ravindra Naik was the pick of the bowlers for Barclays taking 3 wickets for just 20 runs.
For the chase, Barclays began purposefully and Kanishk Singh (31 off 19 balls) and Saikat Sahoo (33 off 36 balls) scored well but Man-Of-The-Match Vilakshan Dhadwal ran through the Barclays side snaring 4 wickets for just 20 runs. That was the turning point of the game and HSBC won with their nose ahead, by 10 runs. Barclays were bowled out in 19.4 overs.
For the second semifinal, Sungard won the toss and elected to bat first against TCS. Geet Desai continued his great form and top scored with 45 runs. He was given good company by Satyajeet Kakade and Abhijeet Deshpande who scored 41 runs each. Ashfaq Kazi bowled well for TCS and took 3 wickets for 21 runs. Sungard scored 144 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
For the chase, TCS lost early wickets but a few lapses in the field by Barclays gave them a much needed reprieve. Man-Of-The-Match Sohrab Ali top scored with a solid 64 run knock and giving him good company were Rahul Khandelwal (15 runs) and Saket Singh (17 runs). TCS won in 19.2 overs and with 4 wickets in hand.

The last two quarterfinals on Day 13 of the ACI Inter IT T20 tournament were engaging affairs.
In the first quarterfinal between Cognizant and TCS, the former won the toss and elected to bat first. Preetam Sahu anchored the innings perfectly with a measured 83 run knock in just 44 balls, that anchored the innings. Apart from him though no other batsman could score much as Man-Of-The-Match Rahul Khandelwal scythed through the Cognizant innings by taking 5 wickets for just 27 runs. For the chase, TCS were not troubled much as Rahul Garg scored a 32 ball 52 and was very well supported by Vikram Randhawa (52 off 46 balls). TCS won easily in 18.43 overs and with six wickets to spare.
In the second quarterfinal Sungard, put in to bat scored a challenging 170 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Man-Of-The-Match Geet Desai was in his element as he stroked a fluent 85 runs off just 50 balls. Jaydeep Karve picked up 3 wickets for 23 runs but that was not enough to stop the run flow.
For the chase, Wipro never got going with wickets falling at regular intervals and only Smruti Sahoo and Sarath Narsimha scoring 24 runs each. Sungard won by 30 runs and Wipro lost 7 wickets while trying to chase down the score.

After going through a great league stage, the ACI tournament has chugged ahead meaningfully and the quarterfinals yesterday were a treat to watch; what with solid cricket action and emotion galore!
In the first game, Barclays took on Amdocs and after being put in to bat first, Barclays took control of the match with sedate yet meaningful contributions from their top order batsmen. Man-Of-The-Match Pankaj Singh scored a telling blow with 26 runs off just 9 balls. Sunil Patel top scored for Barclays with a 27 ball 32 and Amarnath Byakod was the pick of the Amdocs bowlers with a spell of 3/18. For the chase, Amdocs never got going though Nikhil Pendharkar, Aditya Varma and Pankaj Sharma scored around 20 runs each. Pankaj Singh came back to pick up two wickets and Ravindra Naik really broke the back of the Amdocs attack by taking 4/19. Barclays won by 42 runs accounting for all 10 Amdocs wickets.
In the second game, HSBC GLT took on Cybage for a place in the semifinals. Cybage won the toss and elected to bat first. The wicket was true to the bounce and taking full advantage, Nitin Parge and Sandeep Mankar scored 52 and 29 runs respectively to prop up their side to a healthy 155 runs for the loss of all wickets.
Not to be outdone, HSBC GLT counter attacked and put together a brilliant chase. Man-Of-the-Match Pradeep Bhaganna scored an unbeaten 49 and giving him solid support was Jacob George who scored 37 runs in just 18 balls. In the end, HSBC GLT won with 8 balls to spare and with 7 wickets in hand, a comprehensive victory.

The PYC Gymkhana was a battleground of two unique contests, for the ACI Inter IT T20 tournament on Saturday 8th February. Both the teams, in the two games respectively, batting first, scored exactly 142 runs. The chase, respectively, was an interesting in both cases. To sum up, both winning teams had to score 143 runs each, which they did, in contrasting styles!
The first game saw Wipro and Capgemini battle it out for a win. Anup Mohapatra spearheaded with Capgemini batting attack with a composed 49 runs off just 38 balls with company from Dhaval Patel who scored 43 runs. Capgemini scored 142 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. For the chase, Wipro batted deep and though Smruti Sahoo topscored with 38 off just 27 balls, it was Man-Of-The-Match Akbar Khan who turned the match in Wipro's favour with a 10 ball 19 cameo! Anup Mohapatra bowled splendidly picking up 3 wickets for 20 runs but was not able to win it for his side.
The second game saw KPIT take on BMC Software. KPIT elected to field first and BMC batsmen Mayuresh Wagh (68 runs off 50 balls) and Dhiraj Dhoot (24 runs) ensured that BMC got to a total 142 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. KPIT made light work of the chase and Man-Of-The-Match Alok Nagraj (65 runs in just 23 balls) toyed with the bowling attack with good support from Kamlesh Surve (28 from 24 balls), they sealed it for KPIT as their side won in 10.2 overs losing 4 wickets on the way.
The tournament moves ahead purposefully.
