Did you know:
In 1992, a 21 year old Matthew Hayden playing for Greenmount, shared a 200 run partnership with a 17 year old ..... Gary Neville former England and ManU player...
In an interview with Michael Vaughn, Gary Neville
" My mind was made up on United. I signed for them when I was 14 but I enjoyed my cricket more between 14-16 than I did football. Before that I was an unspectacular child cricketer, but then I started playing with Lancs under-14s. I started getting better and played a decent level of club cricket with Matt Hayden and Franklyn Stephenson. But really [brother] Phillip had a bigger choice to make. "

Cricket's biggest match-fixing scandal was unearthed in 2000, when Hansie Cronje admitted he had accepted money to throw matches. Soon players from other countries, chiefly India and Pakistan, were implicated, among them Mohammad Azharuddin and Saleem Malik. Since then, allegations of fixing have cropped up sporadically, and it has been acknowledged that bookmakers and the underworld have been active in trying to influence cricket results. In 2010, scandal reared its head again when three leading Pakistan players were questioned by Scotland Yard and suspended by the ICC over spot-fixing charges
Origin of the Name of the Sport Cricket:
The name is originally thought to either have been derived from the Old French “criquet”, meaning “goal, post, or stick” or from the Middle Dutch “kricke”, meaning “stick” or “staff”. The latter Middle Dutch derivation from “kricke” is generally considered more likely due to the strong medieval trade connections between south-east England and Flanders, which belonged to the Duchy of Burgundy.

Virat Kohli about Stardom:
What does stardom mean to you?
Stardom for me is just a substitute to what you do on the field. It is not something I am after; it is not something which would bother me if I don’t have it anymore. My top priority is to do well in cricket and do well for Team India and everything else follows. It’s not like if I do well for the team, I expect people to start recognising me much more or go crazy about me. It’s not that I feel great about it or I feel bad about it. Doing well in cricket is my only priority.

The legendary Indian batsman, Sunil Gavaskar has been one of the finest cricketers of the country. As a cricketer, his popularity knew no limits and as a commentator today, the case stands quite similar. He has been a commentator for many years now and once a master blaster on the cricket field, he is now a master of the commentary box. Sunil Gavaskar's commentary has occasionally been controversial, yet liked by his fans. He gives an honest account of the happenings on field and seldom shies away from criticizing a bad performance. What makes his commentary even more popular is the combination of seriousness and lightheartedness. While he speaks in an authoritative tone (a much expected trait of such a senior cricketer), he never fails to entertain the listener with his excerpts about his own playing experiences.
