When renting a camping tent or renting a backpack from Mountain Side Gear Rental, you are renting camping gear and backpacking equipment that is considered the best available. Check out the "Best Of" lists in Outside or Backpacker Magazines or the Men's Journal and you will find our camping and backpacking gear listed within those publications. If you are renting camping tents or renting the whole camping kit, having it shipped to you when and where you want it for no longer than you want it is more cost effective than buying cheap camping gear from your local -Mart store. No cheap camping gear - you will sleep better without it.

Why Rent Camping Gear? Because it's easy!
People rent camping gear for much the same reason people rent a car* at the airport, golf clubs at the club or skis at the resort - they don't own it, don't want to invest in it, don't want to travel with it or want better quality gear than what they may already own. Renting camping gear from us is pretty simple, just like renting a DVD online: select what you want, tell us when you want it, use it, send it back to us. There are no rental charges for while the gear is in transit, but you do have to pay for shipping.

We have attempted to categorize all the gear into two categories: Camping and Backpacking. Use this as a guide when selecting what you want based on the type of adventure you have upcoming. These are only suggestions as 'Camping' tents have gone on backpacking trips and 'Backpacking' gear has been rented for camping trips. Rent what you need and rent what you want.

If you are "Trying it before buying it," let us know. If it is new going out to you or slightly used, we will apply your rental charge to the agreed-upon sales price.

Also know that everything we rent here is gear that we use, too. Some of the gear has stood up to snow and 75kph winds on the Continental Divide, three straight days of rain and 100+ rounds of rummy, and a hunting camp in a cold.
