GM Abhijit Kunte has been conferred the Suryadatta National Award 2026 for Excellence in Sports Chess. The award was presented by the Suryadatta Group of Institutions in recognition of his outstanding achievements, lifelong contribution to Indian chess, and his impact as a player, mentor, and leader in the sport. The award was conferred during the 28th Foundation Day celebrations, on 7th Feb 2026 in Pune.
