VṚKṢĀSANA (The Tree Posture)
Vṛkṣāsana is modelled on Vṛkṣā, or the tree. It comes under the category of balancing āsanas. It helps to increase flexibility, especially of knee and ankle joints. It also tones up the leg muscles and rejuvenates the ligaments. It helps to manage rheumatic pain.

This asana helps to attain stability and firmness and forms the base for all the standing asanas. It gives a stretching effect on the back muscles & nerves, and also strengthens the toes. It helps to correct faulty posture. It also helps in increasing the height of young and growing children.

Dear all,
The celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence- ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ has commenced. In this connection Fit India Mission has conceptualized Fit India Freedom Run 2.0.
Nationwide Virtual launch of Fit India Freedom run 2.0 by Hon’ble Mini of Youth Affair & Sports and Hon’ble Minister of State, Youth Affair & Sports will be held on 13th August 2021. All the citizens are called to make a resolve to include physical activity of at least 30 minute daily in their lives i.e., FITNESS KI DOSE AADHA GHANTA ROZ.
Accordingly, we are organizing Fit India Freedom run 2.0 on 13th August (Friday) from 6:30 am. The run will start from Academic block to Castle Ena.
We request all the willing students, staff and faculty members to assemble in front of the Academic block at 6:20AM and make the event successful. The freedom run may be performed virtually also i.e, ‘it can be run anywhere, anytime! You run a route of your choice, at a time that suits you. Basically, you run your own race and time at your own pace’.
Note:
1) Participants are requested to follow Covid-19 protocols.

Greetings Everyone
I hope you all are sailing and prospering in the boat of health and well-being.
The Sports Council has evidently been active in promoting physical and mental wellness through various workshops and events.
When nearly all of India is bound to their homes , regular home exercises are eminent to one's health.
To signify and encourage the passion for a daily exercise routine we introduce yet another gigantic event , "AARAMBH".
AARAMBH is an analytically Synchronised 20 days challenge that triggers every muscle of the body targeted to achieve wholesome development. Challenge sparks on 1st of June with 2 challenges being dropped per day in an alternate interval.
Participation process is as follows:-
1. Follow social media accounts of Sports Council to be notified of all updates and fill the form below.
2. Make a video of yourself performing the tasks.
3.Upload the video clip on the drive link provided to you.
4. Upload the same video on your instagram stories.
5. Don't forget to tag (sports IIT bhilai ) in your video for being eligible for prizes.
The winner board will have four astonishing titles related to fitness.Two titles for faculty side and another two for student side (1 each for male and female candidate from both sides).
Cash prizes worth INR 4000 would also be awarded to winners.
Participation certificates will be awarded too on completion of all challenges.
General Instructions :-
1. Videos need to be uploaded before the deadline.
2. The Video Title should be YourName_ChallengeNumber.
3. Points would be awarded on the agility, speed, posture and correctness of the task.
4. Decision by the Judges will be final.

I hope you are staying safe and healthy during this difficult period.
It is indeed an atmosphere of nervous apprehensions.lockdown and home isolation has cluttered normal living of ours and ofcourse regulating our emotions.

Greetings Everyone,
I hope you all are combating the current Covid situation with optimism and tranquility.

In the current scenario, the significance of staying at home is more than ever and being enclosed in a place may throw one's mind in turmoil and restlessness.
To counter adverse effects of home isolation one must practice meditation on a regular basis to unwind the soul and spirit of the body.
To develop the same we are conducting a Meditation session on 12th of May under the 90 Days Yoga event introduced on 23rd of March this year.
So go deep with every breath in you. Introspect the facets of this wonderful brain and join us in the virtual meditation session at 9:00am.
We expect everyone to join the session and develop a motivation for practicing meditation on a daily life basis.
