Happy navratri 🙏

Maa Siddhidatri is the possessor of 26 different Siddhis, to get some of which devotees and Saints worship her alike. She is also worshipped by Deva, Gandharva, Asura (Demons), Yaksha, and Siddhas. It is believed that Lord Shiva got all his Siddhis by worshipping Maa Shakti. With the gratitude of Maa Durga, the half body of Lord Shiva became that of Maa Shakti, and therefore he was called Ardhnarishvar [half Nari (woman) and half Ishwar (God)].

Mahagauri performed intense penance to please Lord Shiva and seek his blessings. She wanted to marry Mahadev, and, hence, performed austerities for years. In the end, she succeeded in winning his heart and the boon of becoming his Ardhangini. Since she faced hardships while performing the penance, her body got covered with layers of dirt. And it was Lord Shiva who poured water on her to cleanse her. Soon after taking a bath, Mahagauri started glowing. Hence, the name Mahagauri.

Today is the day we worship Mata Kaalratri. On the 7th day of Navratri worship this goddess who is also known by the name of Maa Shubhankari to safeguard your family and loved ones against all misfortune.
