Watching the tournament at the National Tennis Centre, Astana, Kazakhstan. The Indian women players battled on court for nearly two hours, showing incredible determination, resilience, and fighting spirit.

Moments like these make you wonder—why doesn't India have more world-class tennis infrastructure and indoor facilities to help our athletes prepare for international conditions? Our players have the talent and the heart; they deserve the best support to compete with the world's finest.

As Director of the Shri Madhav International Tennis Centre (SMITC), my journey to Kazakhstan has been an eye-opening exploration into what it takes to build a world-class tennis nation.
Touring the legendary National Tennis Centre in Astana revealed a flawless blueprint for athletic success.
The takeaways for our development goals at SMITC are profound:

At ( Kazakhstan) - time 7:30 am - 2 indian men tennis players known to me, came and said Uncle , we had booked tennis court for hitting this morning, but when we reached the court, there were some local players on the court and said it’s their time and did not let us play, and no one was there to attend. Our players were just going from one court to another.

Over the decades, Indian tennis has created remarkable milestones—from the formation of the All India Tennis Association (1920) to India's first Davis Cup Final in 1966, and historic Grand Slam achievements by legends like Mahesh Bhupathi, Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Rohan Bopanna.

Today, players like Sumit Nagal are making their mark in singles, while India's talented squad continues to raise expectations at international events.
