7th St. Robert’s Challenge Shield Inter-School Football Tournament to Begin September 7

The 7th St. Robert’s Challenge Shield Inter-School Football Tournament will kick off on September 7 under the auspices of St. Robert’s Higher Secondary School, Darjeeling.

Players from Class VII and below will be eligible to participate, with 24 schools set to compete in this year’s tournament.

The two semi-final matches are scheduled for September 21, while the final will be played on September 23.

HOWLERS SPORTING SINGTAM 3-5 GANGTOK HIMALAYAN SPORTING CLUB (GHSC)

A thrilling eight-goal encounter saw Gangtok Himalayan Sporting Club (GHSC) secure a hard-fought 5–3 victory over Howlers Sporting Singtam in the SFA A Division S-League 2026 at Paljor Stadium Gangtok

Howlers made a dream start, with Ismile Rai finding the net in the 1st minute. GHSC responded through Ayush Bista in the 10th minute. Ismile Rai completed his brace just before half-time in the 45th minute, but Thupden Sherpa equalised in added time, making it 2–2 at the break.

GHSC came out strongly in the second half, with Thupden Sherpa scoring again in the 48th minute. Deepjai Sharma extended their lead in the 59th minute, followed by Ayush Bista’s second goal in the 76th minute. Howlers pulled one back through Sokat Husan in t 80th minute, but GHSC held on to claim all three points.

7-A-Side Open Knockout Football Tournament to Kick Off in Rongchong

Pahari Yuva Sangh, Rongchong, has announced the fixtures for its 7-A-Side Open Knockout Football Tournament, which is set to kick off on September 5, 2026, at the Rongchong Basti Playground, near Lohapul along NH-10.

The tournament will begin with an exciting opening clash between Dajubhai FC and Peshok FC on September 5.

The competition is expected to attract football teams from across the region, promising an exciting series of knockout encounters.

The champions will be awarded a prestigious trophy along with a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, while the runners-up will receive a trophy and ₹50,000.

SFA A DIVISION S-LEAGUE 2026: RED PANDA FC 0–3 SIKKIM BROTHERHOOD FC

Sikkim Brotherhood FC secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Red Panda FC in Match No. 48 of the SFA A Division S-League 2026 at Paljor Stadium

Brotherhood FC opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Akash Sundas. They continued to dominate after the break, with Shivum Kharga doubling the lead in the 68th minute. Sonam Lepcha completed the scoring in the 75th minute, sealing a comfortable 3–0 win for Brotherhood FC.

SFA A Division S-League: Aakraman FC Stage Comeback, Northerners and Sikkim Police Share Points

Gangtok: Two matches were played at Paljor Stadium in the SFA A Division S-League 2026, organised by the Sikkim Football Association under the aegis of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

In the first match, Sikkim Aakraman FC staged a stunning second-half comeback to defeat Sang Mustang FC 5–1. Sang Mustang FC took the lead through Phung Hang S***a in the 24th minute and went into the break 1–0 ahead.

Aakraman FC turned the match around after half-time, with Tempa Landup Bhutia (47'), Boxer Pradhan (70', 88'), Prashant Chettri (73') and Dewasish Rai (75') finding the net to complete a dominant 5–1 victory.

In the second match, Northerners FC and Sikkim Police FT played out a 1–1 draw. Northerners FC took the lead through Zigdal Hissay Bhutia from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, but Sikkim Police FT responded quickly as Anand Sunar converted a penalty in the 44th minute to level the score.

Neither side could find the winning goal after the break, and the points were shared.

BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL LEGEND CAFU COMING TO DARJEELING

Darjeeling is set to witness a historic football moment as Brazilian football legend and two-time FIFA World Cup winner Cafu makes a special appearance at Gorkha Stadium, Lebong, on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

The event, organized by Arya Tea Company Limited, Arya Tea Estate (Since 1885), will feature the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Sidra Hills Sports & Wellness Resort Darjeeling, followed by the official launch of North Bengal Fighters FC and Darjeeling Warriors FC.

Cafu captained Brazil and won the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and 2002, becoming one of the most celebrated right-backs in football history.

Howlers FC took an early lead in the 8th minute through Sokta Hushan (No. 16). Northerners FC responded strongly and levelled through Karma Topden Bhutia (No. 10).l
Northerners FC then took control of the match, with Nikesh Gurung (No. 8) putting them ahead in the 26th minute.

After the break, Pranay Rai (No. 27) extended Northerners FC’s advantage in the 73rd minute, before Kenjay Namgyal Lepcha (No. 14) completed the scoring in the 86th minute to seal a 4–1 win.

Dzongri FC Edge Gangtok Himalayan SC 1–0

Dzongri FC secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Gangtok Himalayan SC in Match No. 43 of the SFA ‘A’ Division S-League 2026 organized by Sikkim Football Association under the aegis of All Indian Football Federation at Paljor Stadium Gangtok.

The match remained goalless for most of the contest, with both sides displaying disciplined defensive organisation and creating opportunities but failing to find the breakthrough.

The decisive moment arrived in the 86th minute, when Rinchen Tamang found the back of the net for Dzongri FC.

Gangtok Himalayan SC pushed forward in the closing stages in search of an equaliser, but Dzongri FC held firm to preserve their lead and secure all three points.

Sikkim Police FT Beat Sikkim Brotherhood FC 3-1

Sikkim Police FT secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Sikkim Brotherhood FC in Match No. 41 of the SFA A Division S-League 2026
at Paljor Stadium Gangtok.

Sikkim Police FT took the lead in the 24th minute when John Tshering Lepcha found the back of the net.
Sikkim Brotherhood FC came back strongly after the interval, with Soraisam Dhanachandra Singh restoring parity in the 50th minute.
However, Sikkim Police FT regained the advantage in the 63rd minute, courtesy of Mingma Tshering Lepcha.
John Tshering Lepcha then completed his brace deep into stoppage time in the 90+3rd minute, sealing a deserved 3–1 win and all three points for Sikkim Police FT.
